Following yesterday’s visit, I went to two more places too. After visiting 3 clinics, I feel like I have a rough outline now. The title says Gangnam clinics, but I’ll combine it with the review of the place I visited yesterday and post everything together. (If you’re only curious about the actual clinic-visit review, go straight to number 3.) Everyone whose situation is similar to mine, please use this as reference.
1. Online research list
First, I’m a man, and I looked into hospitals because I wanted surgery on two areas: eyes and nose. For my eyes, I was self-conscious because they were too small, so I wanted them to look a bit bigger. For my nose, I had a slight hump, so I think I mainly looked for clinics focused on hump correction. It was my first cosmetic surgery in my life, so I did online research without knowing anything, almost like jumping in headfirst. After about two intense days of research, I ended up with the list below.
Large hospitals Clinic A (nose: Dr. A, eyes: Dr. B) Clinic B Clinic C (Dr. C)
Private clinics Clinic D Clinic E Clinic F
The reason I looked for both large hospitals and private clinics first was that, since it was my first cosmetic surgery, I had a lot of worries, and I thought the two types of hospitals had slightly different characteristics. The first priority in my online research was the nose. For rhinoplasty, I found that there tend to be quite a few side effects, so considering the possibility of revision surgery, I looked into private clinics. As for large hospitals, I thought their scale couldn’t be ignored, so I included them in my online research list for now.
2. Clinic visit list
As I said earlier, I thought private clinics and large hospitals had different characteristics, so when doing in-person consultations, I tried to make appointments so that, as much as possible, I would visit one private clinic and one large hospital in a day. But unexpectedly, it was peak season, so even booking consultations was difficult. So yesterday I only went to one clinic, and today I went to two according to my plan. After visiting 3 places, I feel like I have a better sense of my face, and I’m also tired, so I don’t know whether I’ll go to the remaining clinics I found through online research haha
3. Clinic visit reviews
I was a little worried because I had seen reviews saying private clinics like the ones I visited had poor facilities, but it wasn’t at a level that really warranted that much concern.
Unlike private clinics, at the large hospital you can designate the director, and I consulted with the directors listed in parentheses in my online research list above, so I had two consultations in total.
Clinic E Since it was a private clinic, I liked that I could consult with the director for a long time. It was my first hospital consultation and I had a lot of worries, so I asked various questions about side effects, and I liked that they explained the mechanisms and cases of side effects with examples. The director seemed to place great importance on a natural look, so they didn’t try to change my existing face too drastically, and for nasal materials they recommended autologous cartilage (ear, septal cartilage).
Large hospital Since it was a large hospital, the consultation time with the directors was shorter than at private clinics. What I liked was that, maybe because it was a large hospital, they had a separate anesthesiology specialist. Both directors I consulted with thought that, for men, it is better to be slightly understated than excessive, so for the eyes they mentioned non-incisional ptosis correction and canthoplasty, and for nasal materials they recommended autologous cartilage (septal cartilage, costal cartilage).
Clinic D Overall, it felt similar to Clinic E, but it felt like they explained things a bit more thoroughly. They said something a little different about the eyes compared with the large hospital, so I asked various questions, and they explained really well haha Among the places I visited, I was most satisfied with the consultation here. (This could also be because I went after hearing a lot already, so I had a better ear for it.) The nasal materials were the same as Clinic E.
All three places were ones I found after putting a lot of effort into online research, so even after visiting them, I think they were good enough that I had no regrets.
