<Front, week 5><Right side, week 5><Left side, week 5>Hello, I wrote a 3-week review last time and now I’m back at week 5. First, I’ll tell you if there are any uncomfortable points.
Usually the stitches are removed around week 2. After the stitches were removed, it did feel a little refreshing, but after week 3 my mouth felt a bit more uncomfortable. Food would get stuck in between and such, but from week 4 onward, I don’t think that happens at all. However, maybe because the intraoral incision was large, I still have intraoral scar tissue? or should I call it that, something like it doesn’t feel like my own mouth? That feeling is still there. Seeing that it remains until week 5, I guess this lasts the longest.
Nosebleeds came out slightly until week 3. If you got cheekbone surgery, make sure to spit out phlegm well. There was a lot of blood pooled inside.
As for the nerve sensation returning, which people worry about the most, the clinic said it usually comes back within 3-6 months. It varies by person, but for me, until week 3, I had a slight tingling under my chin and no sensation (it was hard to shave..). From after week 4, all sensation returned, and it feels like I’ve recovered when eating food and everything. I didn’t do separate mouth-opening exercises; I just ate well and did simple jogging. Right now, for opening my mouth, hmm.. I think it opens about 80%. I can eat hard foods without problems and there’s no discomfort at all, but I still recommend not eating them lol. The clinic said not to eat hard things for 3 months...
I visited the doctor for a progress check, and as expected, he was cheerful lol. He took one look and said, hmm, I think it came out well, and in a cool way with his dialect, he said, now you just need to live well~! He asked if anything was uncomfortable, did a simple exam, and left lol. Somehow he feels comfortable and fun!
And I think you may be curious whether there’s anything I feel unsatisfied with. First, as I said last time, I think the cheekbones turned out well lol. My cheekbones had definitely been sunken in on both sides like a skull, but I think they were corrected well! Also, I had quite a bit of front cheekbone and 45-degree cheekbone, and those were reduced a lot. But when viewed, I think he did it well so my face doesn’t look too flat. I told him that if the cheekbones are pushed in too much, the three-dimensional look of the face disappears, so please pay attention to that, and he said not to worry!
There are also some things I’m disappointed about. From week 5, I still can’t quite tell from the front, but when looking at the side jawline, I can feel, ah, the area that drooped like a clothesline has definitely been cleaned up and reduced more. I didn’t shave the square jaw aggressively; I just had it slightly shaved at the bottom.. so the swelling wasn’t extremely severe.
As for correcting asymmetry on both sides of the square jaw, hmm.. I’m not sure about this.. The left side was bigger, and swelling was worse on this side too, and even now I think a little swelling remains. I wanted the frontal view the most, but within my satisfaction level it’s about 20%.. The left side got a little smaller, so it seems somewhat better, but it’s so minimal that I still don’t know ㅠ
I don’t know if I had too much fantasy about cortical bone shaving lol. Even with cortical bone shaving, there isn’t a hugely dramatic change, but there definitely seems to be an effect. Maybe because my skin thickness is greater on the left side, the effect doesn’t seem that big lol. For the bone itself, I do think they matched the symmetry well, but the next issue is skin thickness, and there is still some swelling left, so I think I need to watch it more. They say minor swelling can last up to 1 year....
Still, the overall balance has improved a lot, and without depressions... When I look in the mirror, my face definitely seems smaller lol. Still, I’m living satisfied for now! Next time I’ll come back with an 8-week review~ Bye
