It’s been 3 days since I had surgery at ㄱㅇㅈ I’m on vacation and not going to work, so I’m bored and writing this lololol whew This is very disorganized.. long post warning
My original nose had a fairly high bridge, but the nasal tip was low compared to the bridge and slightly spread out. From the front, I often heard that my features were clear and that I was pretty. Personally, I felt the three-dimensional look of my side profile was a bit lacking.. Even though my face is on the small side, when photos were taken from the side, it looked less dimensional, so it looked slightly long or pressed? So I would only take photos from the front, and even people taking photos of me would always say that part was a shame.
The nose shape, materials, and improvements I wanted were: A straight-to-slightly-curved side-profile nasal line + a defined tip / from the front, tidying up the spread nasal tip and visible nostrils - Since it was my first surgery, my immunity is on the weaker side, and I had no desire for a higher bridge, I didn’t want to use an implant - Ear cartilage only -> considered functional aspects like being able to make a pig nose and blow my nose
Surgical method and materials > No implant + ear cartilage and fascia for the nasal tip + slight shaving of the hump (not a hump protruding upward, but a hump lying sideways; should I say it’s rectangular-shaped? A nose that most people wouldn’t recognize as a hump nose) I debated whether to do osteotomy, but they said if I wanted osteotomy, I couldn’t do it at this hospital, so I didn’t do osteotomy! After going to consultations, all but two places advised against osteotomy haha Also, I went to 8-10 consultations (I don’t remember exactly), and half recommended an implant while half advised against it / 80% advised against osteotomy / except for ㄱㅇㅈ, all used septal cartilage, so honestly I think I made up my mind after consulting here last. My rhinitis is severe, so functional aspects were very important to me.. I absolutely wanted to be able to blow my nose and make a pig nose, and I didn’t want to touch the septum
The director said that since I already had a nasal bridge, it would come out as a straight-to-slightly-curved shape. He said it would improve much more than before, and at first I was worried because I heard he had sent some people away telling them not to get surgery, but he said mine would improve a lot if I did it,, and even up until the surgery, he emphasized that it would come out straight-to-slightly-curved
*) Surgery process I changed only my top, lay down, and they trimmed my nose hairs. He came in, we talked about the nose shape one last time, and they did something like disinfection while asking how much I could drink, saying they had to put in that much anesthetic. I said a bottle and a half to two bottles, and the surgery process was so fun while I felt pleasantly drunk....; A lot of people said that because it’s local anesthesia, they could feel it and were scared, but for me, when I came to my senses a bit, the surgery was almost over lololol I think it’s because I told them the amount that gets me drunk when I drink..? lololol On the day of surgery, I printed out celebrity nose-shape photos on A4 paper and discussed the details I wanted one last time, and even after lying on the operating table, I told them again,, The surgical assistant (nurse and manager unnie) said it turned out pretty and well, but it’s only day 3, so I don’t know yet
After surgery) There is swelling, but compared with other rhinoplasty reviews I’ve seen, I think mine isn’t severe.. On the day of surgery and the next day, day 1, there was almost none There wasn’t much blood or runny nose either,, Seeing other people’s reviews, they said it flowed down, but for me it really didn’t come out? My nose feels stuffy, but maybe because I already had rhinitis, it’s tolerable? But from day 2, my ear hurt a lot I’d call it a mild but continuous pain I had the cotton removed on day 2, but the nostril area is still taped They said they’ll teach me how to apply ointment after removing the splint and taking out the stitches This part seems a bit different from other hospitals. Usually, a lot of places have you apply ointment after removing the cotton, but here, although I did receive the ointment together on the first day when I was prescribed a huge amount of medicine, they said they would teach me how to apply it after removing the splint
I’m originally pretty easygoing, so I’m waiting without much worry One downside is that they don’t proactively explain every little detail? They also give instructions like telling you to read the blog, and they are kind, but not the kind of kindness where they explain every tiny thing. However, if you prepare questions in advance, they answer everything. It feels like they want you to focus more on body recovery and things like that rather than worrying too much about minor things? So if your personality is like mine, you probably won’t think much of it. Another downside is that postoperative care is done by the nurse unnie, so you don’t get to see the director? The fact that you can’t have the postoperative progress checked by him.. I hope I get to see him when I go to remove the splint.
In conclusion, I like it so far. Well, I’ll only know after removing the splint, but I’m just playing the premature-celebration game. It could be disappointing, but I’ll probably be satisfied. If I get bored again, I’ll bring another review..ㅋㅌㅋㅌ
