I want to do revision surgery with autologous costal cartilage, but it’s not like I specifically want to make it higher than before, and if they say to lower it, I’ll lower it.. (I prefer a natural look) Half of the places say to reuse the donated costal cartilage that’s already inside, and half say to use autologous costal cartilage, so I don’t know what to do.. I originally wanted to use autologous costal cartilage for my primary surgery, but I didn’t have the money so I used donated cartilage, and I’ve kept regretting it..
The reason I’m reluctant about donated cartilage is that it’s someone else’s, so that bothers me, and I heard it’s harder to remove and has a somewhat higher chance of inflammation.. I also heard the absorption rate is higher, so later it could get soft? or crumble.. Of course, there are probably more people for whom that doesn’t happen, but I’m an anxious person, so it bothers me more.ㅜㅜ
And at the hospital I went to for a consultation yesterday, they said the donated costal cartilage strut was placed in a spot that collapses easily, and that it needs to be placed again in a spot that doesn’t collapse easily.. I don’t really know if that’s a lie, but because of that, I want even more to redo it completely..
If I reuse the donated cartilage for revision surgery, I feel like I’ll keep being anxious afterward tooㅜㅜ That’s why I want to do it with autologous costal cartilage, but the place where I want to have surgery says it’s inefficient and there’s no benefit to harvesting it, so I’m debating. It would basically be just replacing the materialㅜㅜ
I really want to do it with autologous costal cartilage, but would it be too inefficient?ㅜㅜ If there are any other reasons, I’d like to hear them..
