Hello I wrote last August and said I’d write again, but work got busy and I completely forgot about this community. For now, it’s been 1 year and 3 months. To give just the conclusion, my surgery went well. My satisfaction is also very high.
I’ve received private messages before, and it seemed like quite a few people were worried about whether my vision got worse or whether there were any other problems. My vision did not get worse, and I didn’t have any other problems.
I just remember being startled during recovery because some blood suddenly came out of my eye, but I think it was blood that hadn’t fully come out after surgery leaking out a bit. There are cases where bloody tears can occur even after several days have passed, so if you’ve had surgery, I don’t think you need to worry unless it’s gushing out. It can come out like tears, trickling down, drip drip, about that much.
Also, I originally have some allergies, and I don’t know if it was because the skin near my eyes became sensitive after surgery, but for about 2-3 months, whenever I had an allergic reaction, the area under my eyes, below the aegyo-sal, would sometimes become red and raised, kind of like a bug bite? I wondered, “Did the skin near my eyes become permanently sensitive and weakened?” but after a few more months, that all recovered too, and now it doesn’t get red anymore.
For a few weeks after surgery, my eyes seemed to come forward again (because of swelling), and as the inner swelling very slowly and gradually went down, around the 1-year mark I could finally see that they had gone in a lot compared with before.
I was always annoyed that my side profile looked like some reptile or aquatic creature because my eyes stuck out, but now I don’t get stressed about my side profile, so I’m really happy.
Additionally, if you’re planning to have double eyelid surgery, I recommend having orbital decompression surgery first and then doing the surgery. As the eyes go in, the eye structure changes, so the eyelids protrude less too, and you may be able to make a prettier double eyelid shape or get double eyelids that suit the recessed eyes better.
