My eyes: sunken eyes + hidden double eyelids + severe Mongolian folds + fat on the upper eyelids Used double-eyelid tape for about 5–6 years Surgery I had in mind: incisional method + fat removal + medial canthoplasty + upper canthoplasty Desired line: a natural in-out line that suits my overall facial mood
1. [Clinic A] ([Doctor A]) I arrived early and waited a little. I went for a consultation in the morning, and everyone seemed very busy. I waited about 10 minutes after entering the consultation room. The coordinator was extremely kind, and the doctor was kind too, but had a very experienced air and only said what was necessary. As soon as I described the line I wanted, the doctor drew it immediately, and it was exactly the natural look I wanted… Since it was my first cosmetic consultation, I was too nervous to ask detailed questions, so the consultation ended. Still, I never felt they wanted to rush me out, and they explained the surgical method and the reasons for their recommendation well.
The final recommendation was non-incisional natural adhesion, in-out line + ptosis correction + fat removal + medial canthoplasty + upper canthoplasty. I had not considered natural adhesion at all because I have fat on my upper eyelids, but after making the line, they said it should hold well and recommended it because it was my first surgery and a non-incisional method seemed suitable. Aftercare was said to include swelling injections, scar injections, a swelling laser, and medication to help the anesthesia wear off on the day; subsequent care would include swelling lasers, swelling injections, scar lasers, and scar injections. They also said they would provide a cold/warm compress kit for home use! I liked that the aftercare period was long and the management was thorough.
They recommended ptosis correction because I tend to open my eyes using my forehead, but personally I did not feel it was essential enough to accept the possibility of side effects, so I did not particularly want it… Even so, seeing the doctor create exactly the line I wanted in one go made the doctor’s experience and skill look clearly excellent.
2. [Clinic B] ([Doctor B]) I found out about this doctor while searching because an influencer I like had surgery with them. The doctor seemed to have opened their own practice after originally being at [Clinic A]. I booked an afternoon consultation and did not see anyone else besides me. I waited about five minutes and went in almost immediately.
I liked that it was a solo-doctor clinic, and the coordinator here was also extremely kind. The coordinator first asked whether I had brought any photos, and the doctor came in right after the coordinator’s consultation. The doctor was very kind too, and the atmosphere was comfortable throughout.
I showed the photos I brought, and the doctor seemed to analyze my overall face and create a line that suited me. The consultation and explanation here were much more detailed. They checked my eye-opening strength and upper-eyelid fat, and asked me to show the line I usually made with double-eyelid tape. They asked what I disliked about that line, then directly showed me in detail both the line in the photos I brought and the line they recommended.
Here, they said natural adhesion was likely to come undone, and since the distance between my eyes and eyebrows is relatively short and my eye-opening strength is not weak, enlarging the eyes with ptosis correction might throw off my overall balance. They did not recommend natural adhesion or ptosis correction.
The final recommendation was partial-incisional in-out line + fat removal + medial canthoplasty + upper canthoplasty. Aftercare lasts one year; on the day they provide swelling injections, and afterward they provide three swelling-laser sessions.
Both clinics had pros and cons, so I thought about it a lot! Their consultation styles and recommended surgical methods were different… It really made me feel that you have to shop around……
