This was my first surgery. I’ve had eyelid tape on since I was young, so my eyelids have severe drooping and sagging. I wanted to improve the problem of opening my eyes with my forehead, and I wanted a semi-out line.
1. Head doctor at ㅇㄷㅍ-ㄱㅇㅌ They said the consultation fee was 10,000 won because I went after seeing their Instagram as the chief doctor. Reserved for a weekday daytime slot, and there was almost no wait. Photo shoot - manager - doctor - manager order They push you to make a reservation with the manager. Comments like “this is the cheapest it’ll be now,” “if you don’t reserve now, you’ll have to wait a long time,” and so on... But I really wanted to do it quickly, and it’s peak season right now, so I could understand. Among the places where I got double-eyelid consultations, the doctor consultation was the shortest, less than 3 minutes? They just set the line a few times, and when they found a line I liked, they said okay. They kept trying to do everything, saying something like, “So you like a glamorous line?” front corner + upper corner + partial incision + fat removal too... During the manager consultation, I said I wanted to only remove the inner-corner fold and not do much else, and they said that since a lot of the lacrimal caruncle already shows even without it, it looked like it would be fine to just remove the fold as I wanted. But when the doctor saw it, they briskly said let’s just do both the front canthoplasty and upper canthoplasty... ;; They sketched roughly how much they would do while looking at a photo of my eyes, and it felt like too much. I felt flustered and told the manager that I was concerned the doctor had said to open everything up so boldly, and they kept persuading me, saying they had even written down on paper that it would only be about removing the fold, and that it would be redesigned again before surgery anyway, so it was fine... saying the doctor isn’t like that... I’m not fine though;;; The manager and doctor seemed average in friendliness, and the doctor consultation was so short that I honestly couldn’t judge whether they were kind or not. It was basically exactly like they appear on YouTube, but they spoke casually without honorifics. I didn’t mind the doctor speaking casually; it felt friendly, but I’m writing this in case there are people here who dislike casual speech. I had left a reservation deposit, but after the consultation it was less than I expected, so I canceled the deposit. Price was over 3 million won (VAT included).
2. I had chosen ㅇㅁㄹ-ㄷㅇㄹ for consultation with the doctor, but even after waiting nearly 2 hours the doctor didn’t come, so I just went home. A friend had their surgery there, so I went, but I didn’t actually consult with the doctor and only spoke with the manager, but still, it was a field trip, so... No consultation fee and a weekday daytime reservation The wait time was the longest. The appointment was at 2 PM, but when I left the hospital it was 3:50 PM ;; The problem was I still hadn’t had the doctor consultation by then. They kept telling me to wait because the doctor’s hands were tied up in the operating room. At first they said wait 10 to 15 minutes, but they didn’t come, and when I asked how much longer I had to wait, they said they’d 안내 me soon, but even then they still didn’t come, so I just went home. It seemed like the consultation order was manager - photo shoot - doctor, but in my case I had the photos taken and then came back down to wait for the doctor before leaving. It was interesting that the manager set the line... after setting the line, they said I might need a brow lift for my eyes. When I said I’d never thought about a brow lift, they said it wasn’t mandatory, but because the skin above my eyes would protrude more with the line I wanted, the line might get buried, so while it wasn’t something I absolutely had to do, I might need a brow lift. And since I went through an introduction, they said they’d take good care of me... but I wasn’t exactly swimming in free time either... ;; I got tired waiting for the doctor, so I ended up finishing with only the manager consultation. Even speaking with the manager took a long time, and I waited a long time even before going downstairs to see the doctor. Manager friendliness was average, and since I didn’t get the doctor consultation I don’t know the price.
3. ㅇㅎㅅ-ㅈㅎㅊ doctor No consultation fee and a weekday morning reservation. They said they went after seeing this community. Manager - doctor - manager order (no photo shoot) The manager was extremely kind, but not in an overwhelming way. When I told them the manager had mentioned a brow lift, they were surprised and said it wasn’t that severe. When I said I only wanted to improve the inner-corner fold, they said okay. (They didn’t say things like the lacrimal caruncle shows a lot so it may not be necessary.) The doctor consultation was thorough... When I said it was hard because I open my eyes with my forehead, they said I would also need ptosis correction. People around me had all discouraged ptosis correction, and I said I hadn’t even considered it, but they said ptosis correction would need to be included if I wanted to control the lifting force... I also mentioned the front canthoplasty, and they didn’t say it wasn’t necessary. They kept trying to set the line I wanted, but asked whether I really had to do a semi-out line (it didn’t feel like a malicious question, more like a genuine question). They set the line several times, and I liked all of them, and I liked that they were trying to match my needs. They also showed me with their hand how the front canthoplasty would be done, and I had a slight worry that my eyes might look too opened up. They said that rather than a brow lift, I would hear much more about forehead lifts when visiting hospitals going forward. After the doctor consultation, I also told the manager, and they said I would need ptosis correction, so since I hadn’t heard that so far while visiting hospitals, I decided to hold off for now. Manager friendliness was top tier, doctor friendliness was high. The price was over 1.5 million won, including a discount for the front canthoplasty + incision + agreeing to write a review (VAT included).
4. ㅇㅇ(ㅗㅔㅁ)-ㅂㅇㅅ doctor No consultation fee and a weekday daytime reservation. They said they went after seeing this community. After consulting at both ㅇㅎㅅ and ㅇㅇ and debating which one to choose, I ultimately decided to do it here and paid the reservation deposit to fix the date. I went an hour early, waited just one hour, and then there was no wait once my original appointment time started. Manager - doctor - manager order (no photo shoot) The manager asked me to say what kind of eyes I wanted, so I told them everything, but after looking at my eyes they said my eyes are horizontally long and the lacrimal caruncle also shows a lot, so I probably didn’t need front canthoplasty. It was a bit different from the manager consultations I’d had before, so I was surprised. There had been managers who noticed that a lot of the lacrimal caruncle was exposed, but this was the first place where a manager actually said I might not need it. When I said I came thinking about incision, the manager also recommended incision. When I mentioned the brow lift, they strongly said that since I’m still young, why would I need a brow lift, and that they do not recommend it, which was a bit reassuring. The doctor consultation was the longest, kindest, and most thorough of all the consultations I’ve had so far. I had only been thinking about incision, but they said my eyes are the kind that can also get a line with non-incisional surgery, and that purely in terms of shape, non-incisional surgery would also be fine, so they gave me a non-incisional option too. They said if I’m worried about it loosening, incision is also fine. If I wanted to think about additional issues that don’t exist with non-incisional surgery, like weak eye-opening force or fat removal, they recommended incision. (They said fat removal can also be done with non-incisional surgery.) They explained everything like a lecture, from front canthoplasty and upper canthoplasty to double eyelids, non-incisional, and incisional surgery, and I understood it very well because it was so detailed... and they kept checking in throughout the explanation, asking whether their explanation was okay and whether I understood it well. It was the first time someone even drew a picture to explain what the surgery I wanted actually was;;; So we tried setting the line many times, and when I said I liked the first line I had chosen, they still said we should try several times. During all the consultations I’d been to, they had only set the line on my left eye, but they said that for Korean people the right eye tends to be set deeper and is harder to line up, so they focused on the right eye too and said the right side should probably be the 기준. I also talked about the front canthoplasty, and they said my eyes would not look pretty with front canthoplasty. Since the lacrimal caruncle was already showing a lot, opening them further would make the exposure worse, and even if they were opened, the distance between the eyebrows would not narrow. After explaining what my epicanthic fold currently looks like, they also explained how the line should be designed to match that fold. I said I was worried about it loosening, so I would choose incision. After the doctor consultation, even during the manager consultation, the manager did not pressure me to make a reservation, said they would not recommend surgeries I didn’t need, absolutely did not recommend a brow lift, and said I was an eye that did not need front canthoplasty, so we should just do incision cleanly, and I paid the reservation deposit right away. Manager friendliness was top tier, doctor friendliness was top tier. The price was over 1.5 million won, for incision only (VAT included).
I was too lazy to look up lots of places, so I was going to just do it at the first ㅇㄷㅍ I saw, but after doing online research and visiting places in person, it definitely helped. Honestly, in-person consultations are essential... even if it’s annoying, going yourself and getting consulted makes a definite difference.
