Three years after nose surgery, I had the silicone removed due to a mild inflammatory reaction to the silicone. For the nasal tip, additional cartilage was harvested and then trimmed. The capsule was not removed.
Until the one-month mark, my nose was swollen and felt firm when touched. It was also slightly upturned. Now it’s soft, and the nasal tip has come down well. The shape has settled nicely. I understand what people mean when they say the nasal bridge looks pressed down. But it’s not to the point where it feels strange. Other people don’t notice. Since the nasal tip is still in a surgically altered state, the overall shape feels like my own nose and is very natural and okay. If anything, I feel it suits my face much better than when I had silicone.
However, the nasal cartilage protrudes on both sides of the columella lol The doctor cleaned it up well during the removal surgery, but... since the ear cartilage is covering it, the original nasal cartilage got compressed and protruded again. If you call it a side effect, it could be called one, but it’s one of the common symptoms after nose surgery. If there’s no functional problem, you just have to live with it.
As I get older, I can’t guarantee that the ear cartilage won’t cause some kind of side effect either. Even so, I really disliked my original nose, especially the nasal tip, so I didn’t do a full removal, and the result is okay.
I had the removal surgery at the hospital where I had my nose surgery, and the doctor is kind. They handled postoperative AS well.
Before the removal surgery, I was really worried something might go wrong, but the side effects I feared didn’t happen. I feel so at ease!!
