It's a fairly old memory, but starting in elementary school, I received orthodontic treatment for more than 6 years and wore retainers for a long time. My teeth weren't severely crooked and I didn't have snaggle teeth, so I'm not sure, but I liked that the shape of my teeth looked neat without crookedness! I'll briefly write the pros and cons I personally felt.
Pros: slightly improved a protruding lower jaw, teeth shape is pretty and neat
Cons: after taking out the retainer and a few years pass, the teeth gradually become crooked in shape (retention doesn't last long x), teeth became yellow after orthodontics, they decay easily so you have to brush better, cost of replacing a lost retainer lol..., if you get orthodontics as an adult, you have to extract teeth, when the retainer is tightened or adjusted, the teeth pull and hurt so much that you seriously want to pull them out + Severe deepening of nasolabial folds
