Before-before-after-after-after-after, it’s already been three months since I had surgery with Mentor Smooth!! Until about a week after surgery, each day felt like a week because of the tight pulling sensation, but now time is flying by lol. If I’d known it would be like this, I regret not getting surgery right away when I made up my mind…. (TMI: I spent almost a year just worrying about itㅜ.ㅜ) Actually, right after surgery I wanted to write a review and my own tips on choosing implants, but maybe because I had the surgery through the armpit incision, my arms felt tight tooㅠㅠ and I got tired quickly, so I’m only writing this now after three months lol
At first, I thought breast surgery was really simple. I didn’t even know there were several types of implants, and I thought I’d just choose the size I wanted, they’d put them into my breasts, and that would be it. But when I looked into it in detail, there were so many things to decide;; Implant type, implant size, transaxillary incision vs inframammary incision, dual-plane method, subfascial placement.. lol Why are there so many choices? I think people with serious indecisiveness like me must have felt even more lost.
I think the most important things are the clinic first, and then the implant type. There’s exactly one thing I want to emphasize! When I was looking into clinics, I heard things like this a lot: “The director at Clinic A mainly uses Motiva~” “ “The director at Clinic B is a specialist in transaxillary incisions!” That kind of talk.
But the more I researched breast surgery, the more I thought this was strange. Everyone has a different breast pocket size and rib cage size, and their tissue quality is different too. So if Motiva is the clinic’s main implant, does that mean even if Mentor is more suitable for that person’s skin, they still have to get Motiva? That was my question;;
As patients getting consultations, we can only trust what the expert says. No matter how much I say I want Mentor, if the director recommends Motiva, I felt like I’d be easily swayed too.. So when choosing a clinic, I hope you go somewhere that doesn’t pressure you into a certain implant! Rather than a director who insists only on one specific implant, go somewhere that recommends an implant suited to the patient’s body!
Before I got surgery at my current clinic, about 90% of the clinics I consulted at recommended Motiva. It didn’t go like they checked my body first, but more simply like [What implant did you come in wanting? -> I don’t know much about implants -> Do Motiva, Motiva is the safest];;
But when I touched and tried on various implants, the one I liked most was Mentor. So at the previous clinics, I ended the consultations just as experience-gathering, and at the clinic where I actually had surgery, I chose Mentor purely by my own decision without any implant pressure.
I only found out at first that Mentor also has two types;; lol The director explained the differences between the two, and in the end I got Mentor Smooth.
The biggest reason I chose Mentor Smooth was because even though they’re artificial breasts, the texture felt soft and squishy like real breasts! Since texture was the most important thing to me, I liked it most when the director explained the feel of Mentor Smooth. Honestly, I couldn’t trust that alone (I’m very suspicious lol), so I asked about the feel of Mentor Smooth on Knowledge iN too and kept searching while lurking in cafes.
For the first month after surgery, it was hard even to button things because of my arm from the transaxillary incisionㅠㅠ lol, so I only wore comfortable elastic-waist pants and boxy T-shirts. Because of the swelling, the firm, tight feel started loosening quickly after a month. Even though I’m only three months out, when I grab my breasts they feel soft and squishy! Even if they’re artificial breasts, with this level of texture and volume, I’m completely satisfiedㅠㅠ
I had a lot of conflict about the transaxillary incision too because of scarring, but it’s about 3 cm and overlaps with the armpit crease, so unless someone lifts my arm way up and looks closely, it’s not very visible. I feel this even more after surgery, but I’m so glad I chose both Mentor Smooth and the transaxillary incision of my own will!
Everyone thinking about breast surgery, I hope you don’t just go to one or two clinics, but visit several places and get breast augmentation with implants and a surgical method that suit you and that you personally want! If texture is important to you like it was for me, I highly recommend Mentor lol. It may not be better than real breasts, but the texture is really good.
