Before-and-after-and-after-and-after surgery review (1 month mark)
0/ Facial contour shape First of all, my face used to be very round, but after removing the cheekbones, slightly refining the square jaw, and advancing the front chin, it became much slimmer overall. There is still swelling, so the shape is uneven, but this will go down, right..? Before surgery, I never wore my hair tied up, but now the cheekbone area is actually smooth, so I think tying my hair looks better. Still, I originally had a severe retruded chin and my cheekbones were a bit prominent, but overall it has become smooth and slimmer. I’m hoping the skin will tighten and settle a little more. The contour around my chin has not settled into a pretty shape yet, so honestly I’m still very concerned, and although I’m waiting, I do feel anxious.
1/ Swelling The swelling after surgery was really severe until about one week, to the point where it was hard to go outside without a mask. Around 10 days later, it was still a little noticeable, like someone who had facial fat grafting, but it was hard to tell that I had facial contouring, so I think I was able to go to work fine. A lot of the swelling went down by weeks 2-3, and now at the 1-month mark, there is no swelling at all under my eyes, but the lower cheeks and candy-like swelling are still quite severe, so my face feels a bit uneven. Still, other people don’t seem to find it very awkward or anything. I had chin advancement surgery, and I’m not sure if it’s because of the swelling, but my chin shape looks awkward and a bit like a witch’s chin, so I think I’ll only know after more time passes.
2/ Mouth opening and eating
It has been about 1 month and 9 days, but I can still only fit one upright finger in my mouth, so it’s a bit uncomfortable. When I open my mouth, the cheekbone area still feels very tight and painful. I heard that doing a lot of jaw stretching helps, so if I keep doing it consistently, it should open more, right....?
3/ Side effects? Cheek sagging? Honestly, I think it’s too early to call anything a side effect right now, so I’m trying to wait patiently too, but in the current state, it’s hard to tell whether the swelling in the lower cheek area is swelling or sagging ㅠㅠ For me, my temporomandibular joint actually feels very stiff and painful when I eat, and they did say that this is because the masseter muscle was resected. For now, I’m going to wait, and if it keeps hurting, I plan to bring it up at the 3-month mark. There is still a lot of lumpiness in my cheeks, so it still doesn’t feel like my own face, but I think I’ll only be able to know about this part after more time passes.
