Eye Surgery Reviews

My first double-eyelid surgery review, written because I wanted to (1)

I had surgery before Chuseok because I wanted to enjoy the holiday. Although it was my first surgery, I am an adult, so I bravely went alone without a guardian. I had sedation plus local anesthesia. Honestly, I think the sedation lasted only one or two minutes, and when I woke up, the doctor came back in, placed the stitches, and performed the double-eyelid surgery. During double-eyelid surgery, they ask you to open your eyes midway, right..? But when I tried, my eyes would not open. I did not even want to open them. My eyes felt so heavy.. But they kept saying, “Please keep your eyes open~~ Open your eyes~~” so I forced them open, and it genuinely felt like my eyes opened with a pop! My eyes were so heavy that I could not open them properly, but somehow the eye surgery was completed. Afterward I felt nothing unusual, so I bravely took the subway home. Since there was no food at home, I even went grocery shopping at the market and returned home proudly.. But then it started throbbing painfully.. I took two Tylenol tablets, but it kept throbbing. I had heard somewhere that you should not take more Tylenol within six hours, so I just used an ice pack.. Tylenol was unnecessary... Ice packs are the best. It felt cool and soothing. I rested and diligently iced my eyes, and because I bruised on the right side, I was told to alternate warm and cold compresses after seven days, so I worked hard at that throughout the Chuseok holiday. But on the day of surgery, perhaps because I could not open my eyes well, I felt the right eye was slightly disappointing.. It was as if the sparkle had disappeared. During consultations at several plastic-surgery clinics, they told me that the eyes look pretty and large when the upper part of the pupil is slightly covered. But for me, the upper-front part of the pupil, where the circular angle begins, seemed covered by the double-eyelid line, perhaps because of swelling or insufficient correction. I thought, “Hmm... should I wait for the swelling to go down..? The line is so pretty, but is the right side weak when opening the eye?” Then, on September 24, I went back to see the doctor for a follow-up and swelling laser treatment. Perhaps the doctor was also concerned, because they said cheerfully, “There is a bruise in your right eye, so it is hard to see properly. Let us take another look on October 31!!” I just ran my happy thoughts: “Maybe my eye-opening strength is weak. It has only been a week, so I will know after the swelling goes down~ Yay~ What should I eat during Chuseok?” Then I thought, “Yay, I can wash my face properly from now on~~ Yay~” and happily said, “I have been washing with a sponge until now, but now I can wet my face and wash it coolly~~ ♩♪” While looking in the mirror, I saw a scab on my left eyelid and thought, “What is this? Why has it not fallen off all week?” When I examined it closely with a magnifying glass, it was a stitch.. Damn, since it was the Chuseok holiday, I could not contact the clinic anymore... If a stitch was sticking out, water could enter through the opening and cause an infection, so I thought, “Damn, I guess washing my face refreshingly is out of the question...” I washed with a sponge throughout the holiday while waiting for it to end. As soon as the holiday ended, I contacted the clinic.. Until then, I had no idea that I would lie back on the operating table during my lunch break.
