My eyes are fairly long horizontally, but my eyelids are thick and my eyes looked somewhat small and stuffy, so I often felt I had to use a little extra effort to open them I had never seriously considered plastic surgery, but a friend told me to try double-eyelid tape for fun. I did, and it changed my life.. I only created a line, but people around me complimented me so much, and even I could see that my expression looked much brighter
They say people with thin eyelids can sometimes develop a natural double-eyelid line if they wear the tape for a long time, but I knew better than anyone that this would never happen for me because my eyelid tissue is thick... So I immediately made a hospital list and started visiting clinics. They say the answer is to visit many places, so I went to five in total, and ultimately had surgery with the representative director at Allo! During the consultation, the doctor said both a partial incision and a full incision were possible. But since it was my first surgery, I instinctively hesitated slightly as soon as I heard “incision,” and the doctor noticed, kindly telling me to take my time and decide before surgery day.
Since the surgical method was not fixed, I came home and searched through every review I could find. Comparing full-incision and partial-incision reviews, I gradually leaned toward a full incision, but once I started wondering about the specific method and possible side effects, I felt like I was going crazy^^^^ I had no time to go for another consultation, so I sent the coordinator a storm of questions by KakaoTalk. She asked the doctor everything directly and sent back extremely detailed, kind answers, which helped me decide on the surgical plan a lot!
But after surgery, I endured until day 7 thinking, “It’s an incision, so this must just be swelling...” Then it was still plump like a sausage on day 14, and I completely panicked I contacted the coordinator right away, made an appointment, and rushed over. I met the doctor, had the progress checked again, and immediately received additional aftercare. (I really liked this aspect.)
At one month, opening and closing my eyes was definitely easier, but strangely my eyelids still looked thick… So on the day I went in for swelling management, I honestly told the doctor. The doctor reassured me that removing more fat now could cause a sunken eye socket as I aged, and that I was simply the type whose swelling subsides slowly, so I shouldn’t worry and should continue with swelling care for now.
What I really liked was that every time I went for swelling care, it wasn’t just a therapist who came in. The doctor personally checked my eyes and progress every time, then provided aftercare suited to my condition that day. Some might say that’s only natural, but since many clinics act like they don’t know you once surgery is over, this close care all the way through felt truly responsible and made me trust them so much
Once I passed two months, the swelling cleared up completely. Opening my eyes became incredibly comfortable, and my eyes looked much more defined and refreshed than before! These days I’m obsessed with my eyes and take tons of selfies every time I take photos lol. If you’re considering double-eyelid surgery, visit plenty of clinics and find one that understands your needs and provides care through the end!!
