I had always been concerned about my wide nostrils and blunt nasal tip, so I finally gathered the courage to undergo nasal reduction surgery. I felt hesitant about raising the bridge because I was worried it might make my features look too intense, and I mainly wanted to slightly reduce the volume of my nose while keeping my original facial appearance. During the consultation, I repeatedly asked the surgeon to make it as natural and inconspicuous as possible.
Now that all the postoperative swelling has gone down, honestly, I do not feel that I have changed dramatically. If you expected a transformation so obvious that you would look in the mirror and think, “Wow, I look like a completely different person,” you might be a little disappointed. Right after surgery, I also wondered whether the change was too subtle, and I briefly thought that perhaps I should have asked them to reduce it more noticeably since I was paying for surgery anyway.
However, as time passed, I could clearly feel that my reflection looked more refined than before. Once the width of my nostrils was slightly reduced and the bluntness of the tip was corrected, my overall impression became much neater. It looks so natural that none of my friends openly ask whether I had surgery. Since I absolutely disliked an artificial, obviously cosmetic-surgery look, this seems to be the biggest advantage. Still, part of me does wish I had made it a little more noticeable, haha.
In conclusion, it is a little disappointing that the result lacks the glamorous, dramatic effect often associated with cosmetic surgery, but I am ultimately satisfied because it seems to preserve my original facial character while subtly improving only the shortcomings.
