It’s already been 3 months. From the second month on, time started passing quickly. I really felt that people whose surgeries went well don’t write posts.. Until the first or second month, I came in often and looked around, but after that I didn’t even come in and didn’t think about the surgery either.. I think about 90% of the swelling has gone down. Sensation under my eyes has come back about 65%, and my chin has come back about 90%. Oh, and the side effects from the radiofrequency cream I wrote about in my previous post, the ones on my cheeks have all disappeared, but the marks from the pimples are still slightly there. The ones on my neck got much better once I took care of them. They haven’t completely disappeared yet, but they’ve improved a lot.
I was also a little worried about cheekbone nonunion because usually people get a CT at 2 months, stop going to the hospital, and then later find out they developed nonunion. Of course, I’m going to keep visiting the hospital regularly until my 1-year mark.. I’m going to the hospital next week for my 3-month follow-up.. but now that I’m actually about to get the CT, I’m a little worriedㅎ At 1 month, I took photos and saw that nothing had separated, so I felt reassured and lived a bit more comfortably.. Still, I do believe it will be okay. I’ll post a CT review after I go to the hospital.
I was too scared to lie on my side, but I started doing it little by little from last weekㅋㅋ I looked it up and apparently you can lie on your side from 1 month..? But even if I had known, I wouldn’t have been able to.. I was scared.
For now, I’m completely satisfied with the surgery. My life is so different from before. I’m so happy that my complex is gone.
As for removing the fixation pins.. I originally planned to definitely do it, but I might not.. I don’t want to wait for swelling to go down again. And sometimes I get a really tiny pimple near the fixation pin area, but it’s just like one bit of sebum coming up? So if I squeeze it, it disappears, and it doesn’t stress me out.
And something I always think is.. if I hadn’t done the square jaw surgery, I think I would have regretted it so, so much.. My past self made a really good choice.
Sometimes I look at old photos and really.. I wonder how I lived before surgery.
What bothers me the most right now is my chin becoming pebbly/orange-peel textured. Even if I tense it just a little, the muscle bunches up, and that bothers me. Since it doesn’t disappear even after Botox, I think it may go away later, but I guess I’ll just have to keep watching it.
And there’s a side effect? result? that I really never expected. Since my cheekbones disappeared, my face became flat. But face becoming flat <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< face becoming smaller Because my cheekbones disappeared and my face became smaller, my satisfaction with that is much, much greater, so the flatness doesn’t stress me out. I just think, oh, it got flat.. and move onㅋㅋㅋ I’m writing this for everyone scheduled for surgery to keep in mind..
And the protrusion near the sideburn pin definitely went in a bit. But I knew from the start that this would protrude, so I wasn’t stressed. Of course, since pins are placed on top of the bone and scarring forms over them, making the skin thicker, it can only protrude.
And I wondered, would other people notice the protrusion if they touched my sideburn area? So I tried touching it while ignoring my facial sensation as much as possible and focusing only on the sensation in my hand. Unless I say something, it’s at a level where they absolutely wouldn’t know. If they know and then touch it, they would notice, but if they don’t know, they absolutely wouldn’t.. Hmm, if someone very sharp touched it, it would be about the level of, why is this protruding? Is it normally like this? and then moving on. The sideburn scar also looks slightly pink if you look closely, but it’s not noticeable to others.
Combining all the reviews I’ve written so far, if I were to objectively write the pros and cons of the surgery: Pros - Since the 45-degree cheekbones are gone, the nose looks higher. - My face really got smaller. My younger sibling said my face is small, but the eyes, nose, and mouth are all neatly fitted inside it. (If my actual sibling said this, that’s really huge..) - I don’t know if it’s because of the cheek liposuction, but the bulldog-like sagging next to my mouth? that I had disappeared. - I think this is also thanks to the liposuction + long-curve surgery, but my jaw shape used to look like an upside-down omega shape, and it improved by 90%. - When light hits the cheekbone area, there’s that pretty light reflection, you know what I mean? From the cheekbone under the eye to the front cheek, the light reflects beautifully in a diagonal line.
Cons - The face becomes flat. - (With long-curve and chin surgery) the lips become thinner. (They say it improves once time passes and the intraoral incision area loosens.) - I don’t really notice swelling easily in the morning, but on days when I do swell occasionally, it looks a little unpleasant. - My nonunion anxiety flares up sometimes. (It goes away after 3 months.)
I think that’s about it. There are many more pros I didn’t write, but that would be too long-winded, so I didn’t. I don’t regret the surgery at all.. What I realized after surgery is that for surgery to be successful, you do need to choose the hospital well, but more than anything, I think the most important thing is what your bones and soft tissue are like. You also need luck on your side..
For everyone looking into surgery or about to have surgery soon, I hope you look into all the possible side effects before doing it. I’ll get a CT next week and leave a short post.
