My criteria for choosing a hospital were the review photos on a beauty app.
1. Gangnam Oㄹㅇ Plastic Surgery, Director Oㄷㅅ The counseling manager explained that they perform a patented surgical method where there is no line when you close your eyes, but a line appears when you open them? But the counseling manager here was not particularly friendly and felt like a factory employee dealing with patients 1, 2, and 3.
The director said each person has a line that settles well and held the line for me. In practice, he did hold the line I wanted the most. But I did not get the feeling that he was more meticulous than other hospitals. And I was only recommended incisional double eyelid surgery and fat removal. I was recommended so little that I wondered if that was really okay lol
2. Apgujeong Jㅅㅌ Plastic Surgery, Director Gㄱㄹ The staff were on the friendly side. The counseling manager was also kind, which I liked.
He recommended incisional double eyelid surgery, and when I asked about partial incision, he explained that he personally does not do partial incision very often. He said partial incision means cutting the middle and doing non-incision on both ends, but in reality the parts that come undone easily are both ends, so it is not useful.
And I said I wanted a semi-out line and was also thinking about an in-out line. He said a semi-out line seemed unnecessary and recommended an out-line.
He also strongly recommended fat removal and ptosis correction. He said that when he looks at me, I have sleepy-looking eyes, but if he tells me to look in the mirror, I unconsciously put strength into my eyes. He said if I opened them as much as I do when looking in the mirror, I would not need it.
Compared with Oㄹㅇ, he held several different lines and felt much more meticulous. He also seemed to have his own firm preferences about the surgical method, and I thought that looked good, but could also end up being a drawback.
I agonized over this place until the end because I really, really, really, really, really liked the review photos. But when I looked, it seemed like he mostly does in-out lines. He makes in-out lines very cleanly, with a sharp, precise look. There were hardly any reviews for semi-out lines, and in the occasional ones I saw, the inner front part looked too strong, so I did not like it. I was leaning toward a semi-out line, so I did not choose this place.
Also, I liked that they said they provide a swelling laser service when removing the stitches.
3. Gangnam Oㅇㅇ Plastic Surgery, Director Gㅎㅇ The aftercare and meticulousness were so perfect. They said the swelling laser is unlimited. They said swelling injections can be given at the 1-, 3-, and 6-month visits. Revision coverage is also free for up to 2 years, and I do not remember the exact free-revision criteria, but it was more generous than other places. Everywhere else was 1 year.
There is only one director, and he said he only does 4 surgeries a day. He also said he spends 30 minutes just on the design on the day of surgery. He seemed extremely meticulous and I trusted him.
He similarly said he does not really do partial incision. For eyes that can be done non-incision, he generally does non-incision. He said my eyes were definitely suitable for it. But he said only a low line would be possible, so I said I would proceed with incision. I liked that he did not just recommend incision no matter what.
Incisional double eyelid surgery + orbital fat removal is included as a service, but I added ROOF fat removal + ptosis correction.
He did not force anything and gave me choices.
But the price was too expensive.. I guess for Oㄹㅇ, the recommended procedures themselves were fewer, and for Jㅅㅌ, it was not the head director, so the price seems to have dropped a lot. And what bothered me was that the review photos were not great.. Compared with Jㅅㅌ, they did not look as clean, and I felt like the line did not harmonize with the original eye shape.. I do think maybe I could just make detailed requests when deciding the design, but I am still worried..
