I finally had revision surgery today I got ptosis correction + an incisional double-eyelid procedure)) One eye looked dull and unfocused, so I was worried about asymmetry, with one side’s line high and the other side’s line low. Honestly, my eyes were livable even without doing it, and to some people they might have looked natural and pretty.. but I think I did it partly because I wanted them to be better. (It didn’t look that bad in selfies, but when I saw photos taken by others and photos taken at the plastic surgery clinic, it was actually kind of severe..)
Sometimes they looked okay, so I thought about it a lot, but I hated being stressed, so I just went for it. (If it had been a buried-suture method, I probably wouldn’t have worried, but since it was incisional, I think I worried more.) The date was also November 11, the day of symmetry, so I got it while dreaming of symmetry close to perfection
Also, my double-eyelid shape tends to change easily, and starting 3 days ago, the front part of the line started settling as an outfold, in such a greasy-looking way.. I panicked) My original line was an in-out fold, so I was going to tell them to keep the inner-corner line the same. I couldn’t let it fail like that, so on the day of surgery I used my fingernail to bring out my original line and fixed it in place before going. (I was relieved because they said they would preserve the front line as it was.)
Until right before going into surgery, I kept emphasizing it and drilling it into the doctor. (Since this time it was revision + incision, it really had to succeed!!!) Please make it between the right line and left line!! Symmetry!!! Line!!!! I hate wide-open staring eyes!!! During the consultation, they said they would look at reference photos while doing it, so I brought my iPad too and asked the nurse, “The director said he would do it while looking at the photos, can I take this in?” I got permission and went into the operating room hugging the pad dearly. But in the operating room, the director looked at the pad for about 15 seconds, said, I’ve put it in my head~ and immediately closed it.. I cried inside) Still, I guess it’s better than not showing it until the end. (I’m usually introverted, but I think I was desperate to make it succeed.)
As someone who has had multiple double-eyelid surgeries, I think the line came out well. Of course, I’ll know for sure only after the swelling goes down. (Maybe because it was incisional, the swelling is about the size of a thumbnail, but both eyes are quite symmetrical, so I got a bit excited.) When I had a consultation with my friend before, we joked that even if we didn’t know about this director’s lines, he seemed like he would be really good at ptosis correction. But somehow I feel like the eye correction really went well. (Actually, it’s extremely swollen, so I’m not sure I might regret it once the swelling goes down..)
Originally, I was going to do it at a different hospital, not this one, but because of a certain incident my trust dropped, so I canceled and changed to this hospital. (Well, I’ll know once the swelling goes down, but in my current state I think I did well to switch. I am curious about what the result would have been at the hospital I canceled (they might have done better..), but for now my mind feels at ease..) When I had the buried-suture method, it was very natural and there wasn’t even 1 bit of scarring, so I’ll probably miss that, but since I’ve already done it incisional, I should let go of the lingering feelings.. Right now, because it was incisional, I am a bit worried the line might come out crooked! It’s still day 1, so once the swelling goes down a bit, I’ll post a photo review too!
