Today is day 5, and I had the drain removed yesterday, but today I went back and had it inserted again. ^^
Since this was a revision surgery to remove the entire capsule, a drain was confirmed from the start. On top of that, it happened to be during my period, so the possibility of delayed bleeding was higher, and because the blood color was coming out dark, they said we should play it safe, so I had the drain in for 4 days. Even normally, when I donate blood or get a blood test, my bleeding tends to take a bit longer to stop, so I just figured that was how it was. If anything, I was grateful it was only 4 days?? During my first surgery, I had the drain in for a week...ㅎ
Yesterday, after seeing that the blood color had become clearer, I had the drain removed, but after removing it, my body felt lighter today, so I think letting my guard down brought this on... Still, I didn't lift anything heavy, but I bent my upper body to wash my hair and stretched my arm all the way out to take something down from a high shelf and stuff. As the morning passed, my breast gradually started swelling, and the feeling was not normal. Seriously, only one breast slowly swelled up like a balloon... At first I thought it was just swelling, but gradually it felt like my ribs were being pressed and my chest was going to burst, so I sent a KakaoTalk message to the manager, and before I even got a reply, I went straight to the hospital.
The director and nurse came and looked, and said it seemed like one blood vessel had burst again, so I went straight to the operating room, was anesthetized, and they started irrigation and hemostasis. Thankfully, they said it ended well.
I had sedation anesthesia, then local anesthesia, and had surgery. Before the anesthesia, they removed the stitches, and as soon as they pulled them out, I could feel hot blood flowing down my body.ㅠ In the middle, I woke up from the sedation and was half-conscious, and because my upper body was anesthetized, it felt like sleep paralysis... I was so scared that tears just kept falling. I could feel them opening my breast and something going in and out and cauterizing, and they talked to me here and there, and I remember saying in the middle that it hurt.... I feel like this is going to give me trauma....
The conclusion is that two blood vessels had burst, so they stopped the bleeding, and I got the drain and compression bandage again. I was ordered not to use one arm at all. Still, they said that because I came quickly, it was resolved well without anything major, told me not to worry, and even sent me a beverage gifticon telling me to hang in there. It must have been long past closing time, but everyone treated me like they had no intention of rushing me out, so I was really grateful...
I think I made the right choice not choosing the hospital that said during my revision consultation that they absolutely don't use drains.....
