☆As I wrote, the post got too long, so first, a 3-line summary:
I'm considering epicanthoplasty restoration, but is it worth doing even with the risk of scarring? Are my eyes the kind that would look prettier if I did it? For everyone who has had anterior canthus restoration, do you not worry about scars?☆
+A long post for everyone with time lol:
I lived with monolids, but as I entered my 30s, multiple crease lines became much worse, so I was going around for double-eyelid surgery consultations! (I had epicanthoplasty 10 years ago, and I haven't had double-eyelid surgery!)
At first, I wasn't thinking about epicanthoplasty restoration. The hook-shaped depression in my current eye shape and the break in my under-eye fat roll bothered me, but I liked the distance between my eyes and thought the degree of lacrimal caruncle exposure from the front was appropriate. (The internal tissue inside the epicanthal fold is very depressed, so from the side, the lacrimal caruncle does show a frightening amount ㅠㅠㅠㅠ)
But everywhere I went for double-eyelid consultations, even though I had already had epicanthoplasty, I heard a lot that the tension of the epicanthal fold was very strong, so unless I had an upper epicanthoplasty, only an inline to in-out line would be possible.
The line I want is a semi-out line close to an in-out line. So I was curious about other doctors' opinions and was going around to several clinics for consultations.
Then I went for a consultation at one clinic (it seemed to be famous for anterior canthus restoration!), and they suggested doing epicanthoplasty restoration (axis rotation) together.
They said they could leave the degree of lacrimal caruncle exposure and the distance between the eyes as they are, and only remove the hook-shaped depressed scar that looks like an epicanthal fold.
But because epicanthoplasty restoration involves an incision scar at the inner corner of the eye, there is a chance of a white scar remaining, and postoperative care also seems to be on the difficult side.. I'm so scared of scars that I'm even looking into non-incisional double-eyelid surgeryㅠㅠ
The clinic said almost no one had raised scarring as an issue, but that's the clinic's claim, so it's hard to believe it completely!
So I'm wondering if there is anyone who has had a hard time because of scars after anterior canthus restoration surgery, and I want everyone's opinions on whether my eyes are the kind that need anterior canthus restoration even with the risk of scarring!
Thank you for reading this long post :)
