I had epicanthoplasty, ptosis correction, and incisional double eyelid surgery in 2017, but it came undone, so in 2018 I had revision surgery for the incision only at the same hospital. But within 3 months, the inner corner area of my left eye and the outer end of my right eye came undone again. As for the epicanthoplasty, as time passed it felt like the opening kept getting wider, and in the end my eyes ended up with that totally exposed inner-corner look, so I went to The Swan for a consultation because I wanted epicanthoplasty restoration.
1. The male consultant was very kind. He consulted with me like an older guy friend I know. He kept complimenting the strengths of my eyes by comparing them to celebrities. It felt good, but he didn’t accurately understand the parts I wanted improved. 2. As soon as the director made eye contact with me, he caught onto my usual concern. I got chills. No matter which other hospital I went to for consultations, even when I kept saying I wanted this part fixed, they said it wasn’t a problem at all, which was really upsetting. But when Director Hwang figured it out in 5 seconds, I thought he was definitely different. The director advised against epicanthoplasty restoration, saying my eyes would look too small if I did it. Also, unlike the consultant, he gave me the facts straight about my eyes. He said there were not just one or two things that needed to be fixed around my eyes. It actually felt refreshing. The director and the consultants all have a lot of pride in the director’s skills. 3. In the end, the consultation with the director was really good because he understood my concern well (he wasn’t particularly kind), but because there was too much that needed to be done to my eyes, it was hastily wrapped up with the suggestion to just revise the undone inner corner area of my left eye. He did examine me thoroughly, but I didn’t like that the conclusion was vague, and even if I only did one side, I felt like I would have to get surgery again anyway because of the other side, so I made a surgery reservation but canceled it.
