I was wondering how I could find a reliable hospital without side effects, and while watching YouTube I learned about this community, so I’m writing about what I experienced to level up.
For people who like large, dramatic outline double eyelids, use this as a reference.
On the app, it seemed fairly famous for outline eyelids, and the review photos were so pretty that I visited and had surgery for dramatic outline eyes. On the day of surgery, after I got home, one eye had collapsed downward and the other was pulled upward. Anyone could see it looked horrifying. I called, but they told me to come a month later, so I waited. After a month, they told me to wait six months. It was hard to endure in that state. One eye was pressing on the upper part of the eyeball, making it hard to keep open and it felt sore/cold. The other eye would not even open halfway.
Of course it was a condition where the doctor should have judged it and performed surgery, but he said he wanted me to wait six months and told me to make the choice. It seemed like his position was that doing it at one month was not stable. It felt like he was telling me to choose in order to avoid responsibility for those side effects. I was flustered, but I said it would be hard to endure six months like this, and it had been like this since the day of surgery, so wasn’t there a possibility it might not come back? He said his opinion was different but told me to make the choice. I said I would do it. Since the first surgery was an incision, we had decided to incise that one eye as well and match the ptosis correction, but while preparing for surgery he suddenly said to do it by buried sutures. He said it would reduce damage and be better, so I followed the doctor’s words. It was a buried-suture surgery at one month, when the swelling was severe, and after surgery I looked in the mirror and only the center had been forcibly raised, so it was triangular. It looked ridiculous. The people in the waiting room were all staring too.
In the first surgery, he only raised one side with eye correction (before surgery, the ptosis-correction asymmetry was not severe, so I had not mentioned that part, and of course I was never told he would do only one side). After surgery, the doctor said for the first time that he had done ptosis correction on only one side. When I visited one month later with my eyes in a terrible state, he performed buried-suture ptosis correction only on the remaining eye that would not open.
At my three-month follow-up visit,
I was waiting in the waiting room, and at the desk I slightly heard my name from two coordinators and heard them giggling while looking at the monitor below. They were looking at my photos and laughing. I was furious, but pretended not to know, and soon they called me into the director’s office.
At that time, I had asymmetry and overcorrection, and the result was not good.
While waiting with a young coordinator with short hair and the director, we talked (she was one of the two people giggling together at the desk). About the severe asymmetry, the coordinator insisted it was definitely swelling and argued that there was no way only one side had ptosis correction, so my voice got raised telling her to have the doctor confirm it.
Later, the doctor came in, looked at the condition of my eyes, and personally attacked me, saying wasn’t it because my original eyes were strange that I had gone around here and there, making me out to be like a plastic-surgery-addicted patient. Who gets revision surgery because they want to? Is that something a plastic surgeon, of all people, should say? It looked like he just did not want to do a revision or take responsibility. I was hurt by the bewildering situation and left without even getting a refund.
I was struggling with scarring and overcorrection in one eye. The other eye had only the center raised with buried sutures at one month, so it became a triangular eye. The positions of the ptosis correction were so different between the two eyes that the eye shapes themselves looked like completely different styles. Afterward, revision surgery became unavoidable, so I had to find another hospital.
While waiting for consultation, a previous patient’s photo was displayed on the monitor in the director’s office, and the inner corner of the eye was flipped over.
During surgery too, after anesthesia, when I came to, another young doctor was looking in from the side, talking as if teaching and telling someone to film a video. It felt like I had become a practice subject without consent. I felt humiliated that an unexpected person was looking in like that. The more I think about it, the less I understand the situation. What happened during the time I was not conscious? During that time, the left eye was operated on, and later several problems were found, including a depressed scar at the back of the eye area and a deeply indented scar at the front of the eye.
Of course the surgical result was also so bad that all of these incidents became extremely traumatic, and I developed an avoidance reaction where I could not even look toward that place or think about it at all.
At other hospitals too, they said it would not recover, it affects the line, and the scar will not disappear.
It was a place that advertised dramatic outline lines, and they always have events.
On the app, seeing so many reviews, it looks like they are doing extremely well.
This is a place that, even if a patient is harmed because of their own fault, blames the patient and attacks the wounded patient so they leave.
How should I understand the doctor or the coordinators?
Hospitals put things like defamation at the forefront as a shield, and patients have a hard time writing or seeing accurate reviews.
If only hospitals are protected like this and we cannot know the honest reality of hospitals, how can we properly find a hospital?
For reference, the hospital this post refers to is not a large hospital.
+ During consultation, in the director’s office, they opened a folder on the computer monitor and showed other patients’ photos while explaining. When looking for face photos, breast photos were also shown, maybe because the patient had also had breast surgery.
First of all, it seemed like operated patients were not being protected, and I wondered whether my photos would also be shown to other people like that. Especially since the breasts are a sensitive area, I was pretty shocked.
