6-month review of double eyelid revision + outer and lower canthoplasty I had surgery on January 28, and it’s now been about 6 and a half months. I naturally have some fat in my eyelids, and the distance between my eyebrows and eyes is narrow, so I was told from the first surgery that my eyes were not easy to create a line for. But the first clinic made the line quite high, and I already have asymmetry between the left and right sides of my eyes, so because they tried to match both lines to a similar height, the unevenness ended up looking even more obvious. I waited quite a while, wondering if it would get better with time, but the line kept looking thick and sausage-like, and especially the difference between my two eyes kept bothering me, so I eventually started looking into revision surgery. I went to several places for revision consultations, and what I wanted was not a flashy line but the lowest, most natural line possible. I said I didn’t mind if it looked almost like an inline, but I wanted it lowered a lot from the current one. Some places said it would be hard to lower it as much as I wanted because the existing line was high and the space between my eyebrows and eyes was narrow. When I came here for a consultation, Director Lee Sang-gyun personally lifted my eyelid and showed me how the line would look if it were made lower, and that was almost exactly the feeling I wanted. Rather than simply saying it was definitely possible, he showed me right away how far it could realistically be adjusted in my own eyes, which was a big reason I decided. It also made sense when he explained that in my case, it wasn’t just a matter of making both double eyelid heights the same; they also had to take my existing eye asymmetry into account. I was also concerned about the amount of white showing, so I consulted about and had outer and lower canthoplasty at the same time. Because it was revision surgery, I was even more worried than I was with the first surgery, but now more than 6 months have passed, most of the swelling is gone, and the shape seems to have settled in. At present, the double eyelid line no longer gives that thick, dominant look it used to, and I’m satisfied that it has been lowered as I wanted. When my eyes are open, it looks fairly natural and close to an inline. More than anything, before I used to keep worrying in photos about the difference between my eyes and the sausage-like line, but now that stress has been greatly reduced. I wanted the outer and lower canthoplasty to look natural rather than overly widened, so the current result feels fine to me. Since it was revision surgery, I focused less on making a completely new pair of eyes and more on how naturally I could refine the parts I didn’t like, and at the 6-month mark I think I made the right choice to do it. If you’re like me and are looking into revision surgery to lower a line that was too high or had a sausage-like look, I hope this helps.
