I’m going to leave a review for the 6-month mark after the 3-way lateral canthoplasty I had in February at Barabon Plastic Surgery. My eyes have always been on the larger side vertically, so I felt the horizontal length was a little lacking. Especially when I took photos, the outer corners of my eyes looked a bit cramped, and I wanted to make my eye shape look a little fresher, so I started looking into lateral canthoplasty. That said, I didn’t want a surgery that would make my eye shape look drastically different. My biggest wish was for the eyes to look a little longer without making it obvious that I had surgery. After looking around and getting consultations, I ended up getting the 3-way lateral canthoplasty at Barabon Plastic Surgery. What I cared about most was not opening them as much as possible, but opening them naturally in a way that suited my eyes. Even during the consultation, instead of simply making my eyes bigger, we talked about which parts of my current eye shape could be improved, and after I explained the look I wanted, I decided on the surgery. I was honestly a little worried before surgery that if lateral canthoplasty went wrong, it might change my impression too much or look awkward, but it wasn't very different from the direction I wanted, so I went ahead with it. If you look at my pre-op photos, you may understand why I wanted lateral canthoplasty. My eyes themselves aren't small, but toward the outer corners they felt a little short and ended in a cramped way. Especially from the front, I often thought I wanted the horizontal length of my eyes to be a little longer. So rather than making my eyes dramatically bigger, I expected a natural extension of the outer corners that would make them look a bit longer and fresher. And now it's been about 6 months since surgery. Comparing the before and after photos side by side, I can definitely feel the difference myself. The biggest change I notice is the horizontal length of the eyes and the outer eye shape. Before surgery, the outer corners seemed to end a bit too quickly, but now the outer corners have naturally lengthened, so overall the eyes seem a bit fresher. In particular, when I compare photos, it feels less like my eyes just got bigger and more like the left-right balance of the eye shape changed. And that's exactly the kind of change I wanted. Rather than a dramatic 'wow, your eyes got so much bigger!' feeling, I wanted a natural change where it feels like the eye shape is just a little different. In fact, after about 6 months, I'm even more satisfied than I was at first. Right after surgery, it's hard to judge the final shape because of swelling and the recovery process, but now that time has passed and things have settled, it feels like the change turned out naturally in the direction I wanted. Personally, the biggest worry I had while considering lateral canthoplasty was whether it would stick back together or look too obvious. Because of that, when I was choosing a clinic, I paid a lot more attention to whether the result would look natural rather than just how much it would be widened. Now, 6 months later, I go about daily life without really thinking about having had surgery, and even though it seems like a small difference, since the eyes take up such a large part of the face, the overall impression subtly changes. This was my 6-month review of the 3-way lateral canthoplasty at Barabon Plastic Surgery / surgery in February / 6-month follow-up!
