My son is 15 years old and lives in the U.S. (10th grade in America). Since he was little, he has had severe ptosis, so his eyes always looked heavy and sleepy, and there was also quite a difference in size between his left and right eyes. Because he had a habit of using his forehead to open his eyes, forehead wrinkles were starting to appear, and his eyelashes were also poking his eyes and making him uncomfortable. During summer vacation, he came to Korea, and through an introduction from an acquaintance, we visited Yejin Plastic Surgery. After the consultation, they explained that because there was quite a bit of fat in the eyelids, it would be better to do incision surgery + eye-opening correction + fat removal together rather than buried sutures. They explained in an easy-to-understand way why this surgery was needed, which built our trust. What worried us most was the schedule, since we had to go back to the U.S. The clinic carefully coordinated everything from consultation to surgery, stitch removal, and follow-up to fit our departure schedule, and we were truly grateful. On the day of surgery, the child was very nervous, but the director kept talking to him and kindly answered his questions, so he finished the operation comfortably to the point that he said, "It wasn't scary at all, more than I expected." Since it was an incision surgery, I thought he would swell a lot, but even right after surgery the swelling was not as bad as expected. He said it only throbbed a little on the first night, and from the next day the pain was almost gone, so daily life was not affected at all. Wearing black thick-rimmed glasses also helped hide the signs of surgery, so he could go out comfortably. They also carefully checked the stitch removal and follow-up, and kindly explained any questions we had, so we could feel reassured until the end. It's been about a month since the surgery now. During the first 2 to 3 weeks, the surgery was a little noticeable, but now it has settled into a very natural-looking inner double eyelid. The balance between the left and right sides has improved a lot, and people around us say that unless we tell them, they wouldn't know he had surgery because it looks so natural. Most of all, the biggest improvement for my son is the functional change. Before, his eyes always felt heavy and he would use his forehead to open them, but now opening his eyes is much easier and he says he can see better than before. As a parent, I am satisfied with both the natural result and the functional improvement. I hope this helps anyone like us who lives overseas and is considering ptosis surgery during a school break. The whole experience, from consultation to surgery to aftercare, was very satisfying.
