Of course, I didn’t just get revision double eyelid surgery; while I was at it, I also had epicanthoplasty. At first, when the director recommended doing them together, I hadn’t even considered it, so I was a little resistant. But after I had it done, I actually felt kind of betrayed wondering why the doctor who did my first surgery hadn’t recommended it then... lol That made me think maybe that’s why people say to go to a doctor with a good aesthetic sense. My first surgery was 5 years ago, and because it was non-incisional, I guess it loosened up when it was time for it to loosen. Maybe I’d aged in the meantime, but I also started looking sleepy, so I added ptosis correction too. And since lying on the operating table every 5 years felt kind of over the top, this time I carefully did my homework and chose a place with strong fixation, then had incisional surgery (+ because it was incisional, I also made sure they were good at minimizing scars). I was worried the swelling would last a long time because it was incisional, but if you look at the photos from week 3, you can tell the double eyelid is obvious but the swelling isn’t severe at all. I just kept doing cold compresses diligently with the ice pack the hospital gave me, and the swelling went down really quickly. I’m not sure if that’s just my body type or if the doctor’s technique was just that good. For my first surgery, I didn’t really look into it properly and just decided to have surgery right away at the first clinic I consulted. This time, since it was a revision, I joined a community, lurked around, researched a lot of information, and then chose a place, so I also went around to different consultations lol. A few years ago, when I went for consultations, I was the only man there, but this time there were quite a few men too. Places that specialize in noses as well had quite a lot of male patients too. People around me have a lot of guys who’d look really handsome if they just refined their features a little, but they have zero interest in grooming, which is honestly a shame... Even just making the double eyelids a subtle inner fold changes the vibe so much... If any man is reading this, look in the mirror and try estimating it for yourself lol
