I had Smile LASIK with the head doctor 3 years ago. It did feel a bit like a factory. Before and after my surgery, people were lined up waiting in front of the operating room, and one person would go in after the previous one finished. The exam fee was 100,000 won, and at that time it was 3,000,000 won if you had it done by the head doctor, while it was much cheaper with the assistant doctor. (They said the assistant doctor was a trainee who learned LASIK surgery from the head doctor.) Because it was my eyes, I thought it made sense to pay more and have the head doctor do it. It did not hurt during the surgery, and it took about 5 minutes. It was very simple and ended quickly, but once I got home and the anesthesia wore off, I felt like I was dying from the pain, medicine or not. My eyes were stinging, so tears just kept coming out on their own. Then I fell asleep, and the next morning the world looked bright. I could see even tiny letters and the dust on the floor. Within a day the pain was gone and my vision improved a lot. Now, 3 years later, my vision has dropped quite a bit. Right after surgery both eyes were 1.2, but now they have dropped to 0.9/1.0. Still, I have no regrets. I can live comfortably without glasses or contact lenses.
