Ever since I was little, I had been bothered by my jaw sticking out a little too far and by the discomfort of my teeth not fitting together properly. So even eating in daily life felt unnatural to me, and I started to think orthodontics alone would have its limits. After enough deliberation, I decided to have orthodontic treatment and double jaw surgery together with Director Shin Hee-jin at IY Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery!
Before choosing the hospital, I compared many places through Naver that were truly famous and said to be excellent, and the reasons I trusted IY Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery were that the before-and-after changes did not look excessive, they looked natural, and there were many reviews saying the recovery process felt stable! That had a big influence on my choice.
After the surgery and as time passed, recovery progressed faster than I expected! From around months 3 to 4, as the swelling gradually went down, I started to feel my face settling into place calmly! By month 5, I could go about daily life without pain, and although I felt a little fatigue when eating for long periods, it actually felt more like a sign that I was using my jaw without strain, so it wasn't very uncomfortable haha.
Now, at month 7 after passing 6 months, I can clearly feel that the overall facial contour and proportions have stabilized 555 haha. People often tell me my face looks more refined than before, and especially the stress I used to feel about my side profile has decreased a lot. Now I look good in photos without worrying about angles.. haha and not having to worry about it is the biggest change for me!
Before the surgery, I worried that the change might be too big, but now I feel it changed naturally without going too far and suits my face well. I am becoming more and more satisfied with both the functional and aesthetic sides, so even looking back now that it is almost a year since the surgery, I think there were many good reviews for a reason!
