It has already been 5 months since my double jaw surgery. As time passes, the biggest change I feel is that now, more than feeling like I had surgery, it feels more natural that this is simply my face. In the early days, I reacted sensitively even to small swelling or sensory changes, but now most of those things have naturally blended into everyday life. Before deciding on the surgery, my lower jaw protruded more than my upper jaw, and because my bite did not match, I had both functional discomfort and the complex that my face looked long. Every time I took photos or faced people, I felt self-conscious, and my confidence dropped a lot because of it. I decided on double jaw surgery because I wanted to improve both those functional issues and my overall appearance. While looking into several hospitals, I learned about Iygugangmaxillofacial surgery, and through the consultation I came to trust Dr. Shin, the director. He gave a detailed diagnosis of my condition and explained a surgical plan that considered not just appearance changes but also bite and functional stability. He also gave realistic guidance about the expected changes and recovery process, which greatly reduced my anxiety about the surgery. From immediately after surgery through the early recovery period, there were difficult times. Swelling, discomfort, and inconvenience with breathing and eating placed many restrictions on daily life, and the recovery process sometimes felt long. But from the second week onward, recovery gradually sped up, and after one month I was able to return to a state where daily life was not very inconvenient. Now, as I enter month 5, the overall balance of my face feels much more stable. At first, the residual swelling and sense of strangeness around the jaw and lower face were noticeable, but as time passed the contours became more and more refined and natural. The connection between the jawline and neck line became much smoother, and the impression that the center of my face looked pulled downward also eased a lot. People around me often say my overall impression looks more relaxed than before. In functional terms too, recovery has progressed a lot. My chewing strength and speech have become natural enough that I barely feel any inconvenience in daily life, and I can eat without major restrictions. Some mornings, the area around my jaw feels a bit stiff, but it is not enough to interfere with daily life, and I accept it as a natural reaction that can happen during recovery.Looking back now, I feel that double jaw surgery is not a change whose results are completed in a short period of time, but rather a process that gradually stabilizes and settles in over time. In the beginning you focus on the changes, but as time passes, I also realized that what matters is how naturally you return to everyday life.If there are people who are considering the surgery, I would recommend deciding carefully through 충분한 consultation, with function and stability as the main priorities. Thanks to Dr. Shin at Iygugangmaxillofacial surgery taking such careful care and explanation, I think my recovery process so far has been able to continue stably. As for me now, I have reached the stage where I am naturally accepting the result in everyday life rather than especially being conscious of the surgery itself. It is still not a completely finished process, and there are parts that will likely become even more stable with time, but overall I am satisfied with the changes and the recovery process so far.
