3-Month Review After Surgery for Prognathism and Facial Asymmetry

Hello! This is my 3-month post-op review :) It has been 3 months since my surgery in November, and now it looks much more natural than at first. The swelling has gone down a lot too~ I can smile and open my mouth without any difficulty. When I wake up after sleeping or have stayed expressionless for a long time, there is a slight pulling feeling, but compared with right after surgery, everything has become natural. First, I used to feel a lot of stress about my prognathism and facial asymmetry. I was scared of surgery, so I chose orthodontic treatment, but in the end I realized too late that surgery was the only answer and decided on surgery after a consultation. I looked up YouTube and online reviews and went to consultations at several places. The reason I chose Y was mainly the director’s experience, which I considered the most important thing. Since this was a major surgery, safety came first. Having 20 years of experience and being able to view CCTV footage made me feel reassured. The second reason was that the director’s aesthetic sense seemed to match mine well. Safety matters, but if I’m going to do it, I want it to turn out pretty. Looking at photos of people who had the surgery through reviews, the results looked very natural and beautiful to me! In addition, the detailed explanations and kindness during the consultation helped me decide on Y Oral Surgery. Now at 3 months, I can eat normally, and I can even drink coffee through a straw. I can eat bone-in chicken, burgers, and meat. But because I’m a bit timid, I still mostly eat soft foods. I’m living daily life just like before surgery now. I’ve also started exercising, and I can lift heavy things easily. I can run too, and I’m living just like I did before surgery. My sensation has come back a lot too. Except for the chin tip, when I touch things I feel the sensation properly everywhere, and only the chin tip still feels a little tingly! It feels like I’m living so normally now that it’s hard to believe I once had surgery and was in pain. I feel like I’ve recovered completely already, but maybe it will look even more natural after 6 months or a year? haha
