This is my 1-year review after double jaw surgery with Dr. Kim Jong-yoon at IYOO Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery!! Since middle school, my jaw had gradually become more prominent, and I heard a lot that my impression was changing. I was not someone who paid much attention to my face, but when people around me kept feeling sorry for me, I started to worry too... haha; After COVID, I relied on masks even more, and after the CSAT I tried to avoid surgery as much as possible and got orthodontic treatment first. My bite improved, but the jawline change I wanted did not happen, so in the end I decided on double jaw surgery! I looked up a lot of reviews and safety information mainly for clinics in Seoul that are good at double jaw surgery, and that is how I found IYOO Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. During the consultation, what convinced me was that Director Kim explained things according to my face instead of focusing on overly dramatic design haha. In the first 1 to 2 months, honestly the swelling did not go down as quickly as I expected, so it was a bit frustrating, but as I kept walking regularly and managing it, I adapted to daily life faster than I expected and was able to eat comfortably again pretty quickly! From month 3 to 4, I could open my mouth better and eat more kinds of food, so I really felt that I was recovering haha. The swelling went down slowly, but because of that the line settled more naturally, which made me feel at ease. Around month 5 to 6, aside from the swelling there was almost no discomfort, and the sensation I had worried most about also came back mainly around the palate, so it was not as burdensome as I thought! From that point on I could see my face getting narrower and the contours becoming clearer, so I think that was when my satisfaction really shot up haha. After that it just kept feeling more and more natural...? I went through it stably without major discomfort, and I could feel my facial proportions balancing out and everything becoming more refined. And now, one year after the double jaw contouring surgery, it really feels like my face shape is complete. In particular, I am so satisfied that the chin tip and square jaw line were refined naturally exactly as I discussed during the consultation. Before, my chin felt like the first thing visible from the front or side, but now that my overall facial proportions match, my impression is much softer and more balanced haha. The functional side also got much better... Eating is much more comfortable, and because my bite fits properly, my jaw muscles are engaged more evenly, so there is almost no discomfort in daily life! The discomfort from swelling inside my mouth right after surgery is completely gone now, so there is nothing to worry about haha. There is still a tiny bit of residual swelling around the cheekbones, philtrum, and nose area, but the overall line is already settled, so it does not really bother me. If anything, I am more excited thinking it will get even prettier as it goes down more lol haha. At first there were times when I felt a little impatient because the changes were not obvious right away due to the swelling, but looking back now, including that whole process, it feels like it settled in naturally, so in the end I am really satisfied haha. Both the function and appearance improved, so if anyone is worrying like I was, I think it is worth getting a consultation at least once!!!! Thank you, Director Kim!
