Double-Jaw Surgery Reviews

Highly recommend double jaw surgery for a protruding jaw

Hello, it has now been 8 months since I had surgery for my protruding jaw! Before surgery, my side profile was always my biggest concern. From the front it did not stand out much, but when I took photos or looked at myself in the mirror from the side, my chin looked long and strongly projected forward. Especially when I smiled or spoke, my chin stood out even more, to the point that simply making a natural expression felt burdensome. Even smiling in front of people made me self-conscious, and every time I took a photo I started by worrying about the angle, so I think my confidence kept dropping.

That is why deciding to have double jaw surgery and contouring surgery at the same time was not easy, but I did not want to keep carrying this concern, so I had double jaw surgery and contouring surgery 2 kinds (square jaw + chin) at Y Oral Surgery.

From right after surgery until about one or two months later, to be honest, recovery was not easy. The swelling lasted longer than I expected, and the inside of my mouth was numb, which was uncomfortable. My energy was also very low, so at first it felt like each day moved slowly, and I had to eat mostly soft foods. Still, as time passed, the swelling gradually went down and I began to feel my body recovering. After one or two months, daily life became much more comfortable, and I was able to go out and do light activities without any problem.

Now, more than 6 months after surgery, my face has almost fully settled. There is almost no swelling left, and most of the lingering tightness and numbness around my mouth has returned. The biggest change is definitely my side profile. Before, it was stressful when my chin looked like it stuck out while I smiled, but now my jawline is naturally refined and my overall facial proportions look much more harmonious. Even when I smile, my chin does not stand out and my expression looks softer, so making facial expressions has become really easy. Before, I would consciously control my smile, but now I can feel myself smiling without thinking about it.

I am also highly satisfied in terms of function. Chewing has become much easier than before, and as long as the food is not hard, I can eat almost without discomfort. My pronunciation also feels clearer when I speak, and the habit of tensing my jaw too much naturally disappeared. These small changes have added up, and I can feel that everyday life in general has become much more comfortable.

The reactions around me have been really good too. My family and friends say my face has become smaller and my overall impression has become softer. In particular, I often hear that my side profile has become prettier, which makes me feel good, and I have more confidence when taking photos.

Before, I used to avoid taking photos or keep wearing a mask, but now I hardly think about those things at all. Looking back now, 6 months later, there were difficult moments during recovery, but in the end it was truly a satisfying decision. The change in appearance was big, but even more than that, the biggest change seems to be that my mindset has become much more relaxed. Instead of feeling stressed every time I look in the mirror, I now feel reassured when I see my naturally changed face.

Six months later, I am truly satisfied with the surgery and have no regrets.
