Double-Jaw Surgery Reviews

3 Months Into Orthodontics

At the beginning, my upper jaw was smaller than my lower jaw, so I first started with a palatal expander. Back then, my front teeth spread apart a bit, which surprised me. But now! The front teeth that had spread apart have come back together a lot. This is a change you can really see with your eyes, so I felt like, “Ah, the orthodontic treatment is really working.” And now I’m no longer turning the palatal expander, and I’ve moved into the maintenance phase. Instead, I now wear elastics for more than 12 hours a day. I mostly wear them when I sleep, so they are not as uncomfortable as I expected. At first, even putting in the elastics was a bit annoying and I wondered whether they were actually effective, but these days I feel like my molars are gradually fitting together better. It feels like the balance when chewing is being corrected? Before, one side seemed to touch more, but now both sides feel like they are becoming a bit more even. And my pronunciation is still a little lispy 😂 Especially when I speak quickly, it shows a bit, but it’s at a level that causes no problems in daily life, so it doesn’t bother me much. There is almost no pain, so I’m basically fully adjusted now! Personally, the front teeth coming back together is the most satisfying change, and I’m looking forward to the bite becoming even more stable from here on. For anyone thinking about orthodontic treatment, the early changes can be surprising, but things settle back down over time and get better, so I don’t think you need to worry too much!
