Male ptosis correction, 2 weeks / Gongsang Plastic Surgery

Before surgery, I had a habit of opening my eyes by raising my forehead, and perhaps because of that, wrinkles started to settle on my forehead and between my brows. Normally, if I consciously tensed my forehead and opened my eyes wide, I actually liked the shape of my eyes quite a bit, so I became interested in double eyelid surgery with the thought that it would be nice if I could open my eyes like that without using my forehead. Rather than wanting to make my eyes look striking, the biggest reason I decided to have surgery was that I wanted to reduce the effort needed to open my eyes and make my expression feel more relaxed.Why I chose the clinic / surgeonI visited several hospitals for consultations in person, and as I went around, I realized that each clinic and surgeon had very different standards for eyes and very different surgical styles. At the last clinic I consulted, they looked at my eyes and clearly explained the direction, saying, “For these eyes, you need to do it like this and like this.” That matched my concerns exactly. It was not a vague explanation; they clearly told me why this surgery was needed and what needed to be improved, so I became convinced that this was the place I should choose.Surgery details and processI had incision double eyelid surgery + ptosis correction + upper eyelid fat removal together. The surgery itself went more calmly than I expected, and I hardly felt any pain during it. However, after I got home, the surgical area hurt quite a bit, and until the day after surgery the swelling was very severe. Every time I looked in the mirror, I thought, “Wow, I really am very swollen.”Recovery after surgery and what I feltUntil week 1 after surgery, I could clearly see the swelling going down day by day, and after that it feels like the swelling is going down very slowly. As of week 2, there is still some swelling left. People around me have said things like, “You still have swelling in your eyes,” “Your eyes look a bit intense,” and “It looks a little awkward,” but I know it is because of the swelling, so I think it will get better with time. At first I thought eye surgery was relatively easy, but after going around to different clinics myself, I realized that eye surgery is really a procedure where the surgical method, design, and surgeon’s style make a very big difference.Personal thoughts and satisfactionI naturally have relatively thick skin and some fat on the upper eyelids, so the swelling seems to last longer than for others, and in fact it feels like the swelling is going down slowly. They say you cannot really judge your own eyes until at least 3 months after eye surgery, so for now I plan to wait calmly without getting anxious. I am still recovering, but just the fact that opening my eyes feels much easier than before means I do not regret deciding to have surgery. For those considering eye surgery, I would say that rather than deciding vaguely, it is really important to first figure out the eye shape and surgical direction you want, and then find a clinic and surgeon suited to that.
