Cheekbone Surgery Reviews

4-week review of contouring surgery at Note Plastic Surgery

Hello. It has already been 4 weeks since I had facial contouring surgery of the 3 areas (cheekbones + square jaw + chin), so I am bringing a 1-month review. Right after surgery, I was really depressed and struggling because time seemed to pass so slowly, but before I knew it, a whole month had already gone by. I am writing honestly to help those who are considering contouring surgery or are worried about the recovery period like I was. 1. Swelling and facial line changes - Until weeks 2 to 3, my lower face was puffed up like a squirrel with candy in its mouth, but by week 4 the major swelling had really gone down a lot. Now I can casually go for neighborhood walks without a hat or mask. - There is still residual swelling, so it is not the final line yet, but when I look in the mirror, I can clearly see that the bumps of the cheekbones and the angular feeling of the square jaw have disappeared. The face-slimming effect is gradually appearing, and looking in the mirror is becoming more enjoyable little by little! - The swelling between my eyebrows and around my eyes has completely gone down, and now the swelling has moved down to around the mouth, chin, and neck, where it is gathered up. 2. Pain and sensory recovery - The pain coming from the bones themselves is now almost gone. I sometimes feel a tingling sensation, but I was told this is part of the nerves returning, so I feel reassured. - Sensation in the lower lip and chin has only come back to about 50% so far. When I touch them, they do not feel like my own flesh and instead feel dull, like touching someone else’s skin. The doctor said sensation returns gradually over several months, so I am taking it easy and waiting. - I developed hard scar tissue, called babon, at the wound inside my mouth and under my chin. My mouth feels a little stiff when I open it, but I am managing it by doing warm compresses diligently. 3. Meals and daily life - I can open my mouth about enough to fit two fingers. I am practicing opening my mouth carefully in the morning and evening as the hospital instructed. - Up until week 2, I only ate porridge and thin gruel, so I lost weight quickly, but now at week 4 I am eating almost everything, including soft meat, pasta, bread, and finely cut kimchi. However, I am still being very careful with hard pickled radish, squid, and tough meat because I do not want to strain the bones. - Going to work or going out for ordinary errands is not a problem at all. People around me only ask things like, “Why did you lose so much weight?” or “Did you get something injected in your face?” and they do not seem to know I had surgery, so I feel quietly proud inside. 4. Overall 4-week review and care tips - I think walking lightly for more than 30 minutes every day was the best thing for reducing swelling. Switching from cold compresses to warm compresses starting in week 3 also helped a lot in easing the tightness. - Contouring surgery really is a fight with time, exactly as people say. When the swelling came down unevenly in the middle and looked asymmetrical, I was really anxious, but as time passed it slowly evened out. It will probably take a few more months for all the residual swelling to go down, but even with the changes so far, I do not regret the surgery at all! I will come back next month with a 2-month update and an even slimmer look.
