Hello! After being stressed for a really long time about my recessed chin and protruding mouth, it has now been 13 months since I had a two-stage chin osteotomy advancement at Yangyundol. I am going to organize the changes I felt over more than a year, focusing on my escape from that complex. 1. Concerns before surgery: "A double chin the moment I lower my head, severe recessed chin" My recessed chin symptoms were pretty severe. It was not just that my impression looked vague; even if I lowered my head just a little, I would immediately get a double chin, which was a huge complex. I had even developed the habit of unconsciously lifting my chin to hide the double chin. 2. Why I chose advancement surgery instead of fillers/implants At first I looked into fillers and implants too, but I did not like the idea of putting a foreign substance into my body. Compared with semi-permanent fillers or implants with possible side effects, I judged that advancement surgery, which can improve things permanently using my own bone, was a much healthier and more definitive method. In particular, the reason I chose the oral and maxillofacial surgery clinic Yangyundol among several hospitals was the detail of the consultation. Other hospitals recommended 8 mm of advancement, but the director examined my condition and recommended 12 mm with a two-stage advancement. Since this was an expensive surgery, I wanted a clear effect rather than an ambiguous change, and when I saw before-and-after photos of similar cases, I felt convinced and decided to go ahead. 3. Recovery process Day 1 to week 1: On the day of surgery I also had a wisdom tooth extraction, so I was a bit out of it, but the pain was not as bad as I expected. Around day 4, when the bandage came off, I was worried because I was swollen like a so-called Thanos, but following the hospital's instructions to walk every night and take care of it, I could see the swelling going down. Week 1 to week 2: After my one-week follow-up visit, the swelling dropped fast. From that point on, people around me started saying things like, "Why did you lose so much weight?" and "Your line looks sharper." Having a chin where there had not been one before really changed my impression. Week 2 to one month: After the stitches came out, only slight residual swelling remained, but just looking at the lower face, I felt like a completely different person. The best part was that even when I lower my head now, I do not get a double chin! My jawline was so satisfying that I even had to fix my old habit. 4. Satisfaction at 13 months It has already been well over a year. Since, as the director said, this surgery corrects an abnormal position back to normal, it became really smooth and natural without an artificial feel. Most of all, people often tell me that my impression looks brighter, and every time I look in the mirror I feel more confident about my side profile, so I am happy. If anyone like me is struggling with a severe recessed chin and double chin concerns, I would recommend thinking about advancement surgery that improves things safely with your own bone rather than implants!
