Review of incisional double eyelid surgery

I had incisional double eyelid surgery and upper-eye correction plus fat removal. The operating room felt more like a regular room than I expected, so it was not very reassuring, but once they attached the electrocardiogram sticker? (not sure) and clipped my toe with the forceps, it really hit me that I was actually having surgery. They did sedation anesthesia and then local anesthesia. It was my first time with sedation anesthesia, and I was so amazed that I fell asleep without even knowing it, then woke up again. And then I smelled something like burning squid, and I could feel them pulling on my eyelids. Since my eyes were closed the whole time anyway, I could not see anything, only a bright feeling. I had heard that if you tense your eyes during surgery, swelling gets worse, so I consciously tried to relax my body. The doctor kept talking to me, so I spent most of the surgery chatting, and every so often they told me to open my eyes to check the line while proceeding. In the middle, they showed me the white clumps of fat they had removed, which was interesting. Near the end, I guess the anesthesia was wearing off, because when I said it hurt that they were poking my eyelid with a needle, they asked if I wanted a little more sedation anesthesia, and I said yes, but I do not remember clearly, so I think they did give me more. Since I was the last surgery of the day, after the operation I did 10 minutes of cold compresses in the recovery room and then took the subway home. It did not hurt, and I did not swell much either. I will need to watch the progress over time, but one good thing already is that when I used to wear a hat, the brim would press on my forehead and it was a bit hard to keep my eyes open. Now, when I want to open my eyes, it feels like they just keep opening wider and wider. It is much easier to open my eyes, so I am really satisfied with that for now. I will come back again once the swelling goes down.
