As I got into my 40s, I started paying more attention to my appearance than before, and especially my nose bothered me a lot because every time I took a photo the hump looked more prominent and the tip looked blunt, making my overall impression seem stuffy. On top of that, my nose was often blocked so I ended up breathing through my mouth a lot, so this time I decided to get functional nose surgery as well, not just a cosmetic change. The shape mattered, but the functional side was important too, so I chose a clinic among plastic surgery centers that had an otolaryngology specialist. It was so hard to find information that I kept searching through plastic surgery posts, hopping from one plastic surgery community to another, and eventually came here lolFirst of all, I didn’t want a nose that was too high or looked obviously done, and during the consultation I said I wanted the most natural straight line possible. Director Lee Ki-jin at ㅇㅇㄷ explained that he would refine the hump to match my facial proportions, improve the bulbous nose, and correct the functional issues at the same time, which made me trust him.The surgery used silicone for the bridge and donated costal cartilage for the tip, and they performed hump nose correction, bulbous nose improvement, and functional nose surgery all at once.I was worried about recovery since several procedures were done together, but the pain was not as bad as I expected. For a few days breathing through my nose was uncomfortable, but it gradually got easier over time. The swelling became noticeably better after about 2 to 3 weeks, and around one month the line started settling in naturally. The most satisfying part was that the hump was neatly smoothed out, making my side profile much cleaner, and the bulbous nose improved naturally even without nostril reduction.I could clearly feel the functional change too.In the past, I had many nights when nasal congestion made sleeping uncomfortable, but now breathing is so much easier, and I feel less stuffy when exercising.I really think it was the right choice to solve both shape and function together.
