About 10-some years ago, I had my first nose surgery with donor rib cartilage and silicone, and I was living with it fairly well. But maybe because the nasal bridge was raised too much in the first surgery, the nasal tip started showing a step-off several years ago and began to droop. It kept getting worse, and it looked as if it had been injured, so after thinking about revision surgery for a long time, I went through with it. Unlike the first surgery, I had gotten older by then and was very worried, so I think I consulted more than 5 places, but since ear cartilage or septal cartilage can carry the possibility of a second revision, I looked again for a clinic specialized in using autologous costal cartilage. Among them, I learned about Dr. Lee Byeong-hweon, the director at Made Young Plastic Surgery, who does revision surgery naturally while still making the nose look elevated. After meeting and talking, he carefully counseled me on the parts I was worried about and the parts I was confident about, and I thought this was the right place. Compared with the places I visited, the cost was higher, but I felt convinced and went ahead. I was really nervous right up until the day of surgery. I was also worried about general anesthesia, which was my first time experiencing it. But when I woke up, I was in the recovery room.. haha At first after waking up, I could breathe through my nose, but by night my nose was completely blocked and I had to breathe only through my mouth, which was so hard. On day 3, after the packing was removed, I really felt much better and could go about daily life. During the first week, there was almost no pain from the autologous rib cartilage, and my nose hardly hurt at all. Only the nasal tip still looked a bit swollen and puffy. Even then, though, the side profile was really pretty. And natural. The photos are as of now! The swelling has gone down a lot and the discomfort has mostly disappeared. There is almost no pain in the autologous rib cartilage area either. I even started exercising after just 1 month. I’m usually someone who doesn’t swell much to begin with, so I’m very happy that almost all the swelling went away. Above all, I love that it has a natural yet glamorous line. I think I made the right choice.
