Same-day review of contouring x2 (cheekbone, chin advancement)

A review written right after getting home! 1. Before coming to the hospital I thought I would be admitted for one night, but it turned out to be a same-day discharge... I had misunderstood what was said, so the day before I had packed a few simple things: laptop, charger, hat, contact lens case, lip balm, hand cream, glasses, and sleep socks. I am really glad I brought the sleep socks. It gets cold when the anesthesia wears off haha. I did not need a mask. 2. After arriving at the hospital I was about 15 minutes late because there was an accident on the way, but I was told the earlier surgery had been delayed, so I would have had to wait anyway. Phew. I paid at the front desk and was guided to a private recovery room. There was even a bed for my guardian, which was nice haha. I changed into the patient gown, washed my face, and rinsed my mouth. I heard some people say mouthwash is disgusting, but I used sterile distilled water (?) for it, so it did not feel like much. I filled out the consent forms, then moved to take photos. After the photos, the director did the design. I already trusted them completely, so I just kept saying yes, yes, and left everything to them. I briefly said I did not want my face to look too long, and that I did not want the chin tip to jut out too sharply. For the cheekbones, I hardly had any lower cheekbone, and the upper cheekbone was slightly prominent, so they decided to shave that down. For the side cheekbone, they planned to make an incision of about 1 cm inside the sideburn area and reduce it. But there was not much to reduce in the cheekbones overall, and it was really just about refining the shape, so they did not say exactly how many millimeters would be reduced. The place is known for doing natural-looking work, so I was not too worried. For the chin, they advanced it 8 mm. Even when many people advance the chin, they usually do about 6 mm, but my receding chin was pretty severe, so they advanced it 8 mm. They said they could advance it close to the nerve line, or slightly past the nerve line if needed. This has been my lifelong complex, so even if feeling did not return I was fine with that, and I wanted the maximum possible advancement, so I said okay. After the design, they shot a record video in the photo room. 3. Before surgery My younger sibling, who was my guardian, arrived, and while we were chatting in the recovery room, the head coordinator came by to confirm a few things. That was when I found out it was a same-day discharge. On the first day I came for consultation, they said same-day discharge, but a few weeks before surgery they called and said I would be discharged the next day, so I was like, 'Oh, really?' It seemed like there had been some communication misunderstanding. But I actually preferred same-day discharge, so I was fine with it. Surgery was originally at 2, but because the earlier case was delayed, I went in a little after 3. Since I was late too, it was okay. 4. Operating room They checked my personal details and I went into the operating room. I suddenly got very nervous then. They tried to place an IV line in my left arm, but it took a little while because they could not find a vein. (This has always been the case at any hospital. When I had double-eyelid surgery at another hospital before, they poked me with a needle seven times lol.) The needle itself was fine, but it hurt a bit after it went in. An unpleasant kind of pain... And then they connected the ECG and other things, and because I was nervous, my heart was beating super fast lol. Since I was going 'uh... uhh...' from the needle and nerves, they asked if anything was uncomfortable, and when I said I was just nervous, they smiled and said everything would be over once I woke up. That really helped when I was extremely tense After the medicine went in, I felt a little nauseous and then fell asleep. 5. After surgery When I woke up, I was in the private recovery room. It was around 6:20, and since my sibling said I had woken up 20 minutes earlier, it seems I entered recovery around 6. But I do not remember walking in by myself... I guess I was half asleep. The area around my chin felt stiff and tight, so I asked my sibling to request pain medication. Huh, but the moment I came out, I was able to speak. My throat did not hurt at all. Anyway, a nurse came and said I woke up quickly and that the pain medication had already been given, so I decided to hold out. It was a little awkward and scary, but it was more than manageable. They said if I slept, the swelling would get worse, so I detached from the bed and just sat there. My feet were cold, so I made my sibling my runner. Please bring sleep socks for sure... Anyway, my impression in the recovery room was, 'Can it really not hurt this much?' It hurt much less than I had worried, and my face was not swelling badly either. The hardest part was being hungry... I begged the nurse to let me just have one Newcare drink. But I held out until I got home because I did not want to bother with mouthwash. The director came by quickly and checked me, and said there was almost no bleeding and that the surgery ended well, and informed me that the chin had been advanced 8 mm. I just trusted them. I was relieved to hear it went well. While waiting until the anesthesia wore off a bit more, the tight feeling in my chin eased somewhat and then a migraine started. I think it was because I had been too tense, but it got a bit better as time passed. At first my cheekbones did not hurt at all, but then they started to pull a little. Still, it was not unbearable pain. 6. Going home My sibling had already picked up the medicine, and before leaving I was given a rundown of the aftercare instructions. Right before leaving, they asked if I wanted a painkiller shot, so I got an injection in the butt and left. Honestly, I thought I would not need it, but I got it just in case I hurt more at home. (But the butt injection hurt more than my face!!! << meaning my face did not hurt much.) My sibling and I took a taxi home, and I arrived while spacing out. My mom looked at me and said, 'Huh? Why do you look so fine?' Yup. As soon as I sat down I was so hungry that I immediately chugged the Newcare the hospital gave me and the mini Newcare I had ordered separately ^^ Black sesame flavor is delicious ^^ After I finished, my boyfriend ordered me ice cream, so I ate that too. I could open my mouth about one finger-width. I could speak pretty well too, so I talked within a reasonable limit. My mom looked at my side profile and said I did well to have it done. She said I should have gotten it done sooner lol. I took my medicine and rinsed my mouth, and both went fine without any issues. I want to lie down and sleep, but they said I should not, so now I am sitting here writing this. Overall impression: why do I look so fine? I may come back tomorrow with another update because the next day might hurt like crazy and I may swell up a lot!
