I got my nose surgery at Finish in PNs, and it’s been almost 11 months now. The surgeon’s skills were quite good, so the incision range was only about 2 cm, and since I’m from the provinces I got separate scar treatment near my home!
I got way more questions about the scar than I expected, and I also received a lot of DMs. Since I used to look up information about this and wonder about the same things, I’m just going to upload photos this time so people can use them as a reference for how much of a scar is left. 😂
I’m really uploading this for everyone~ I even took out a measuring tape late at night and measured it I thought it might help everyone to have a rough reference for the size instead of just guessing! First of all, I didn’t start scar treatment right after surgery. I started it around the 6-month mark. I did it once a month for a total of 3 sessions, and I think it cost around 800,000 won. Honestly, the price is pretty expensive...😭 But according to the doctor, it’s best to start scar treatment as early as 2 to 3 months after surgery. I started a bit late, so that’s something I regretted, and if you want to make scars as faint as possible, I recommend starting a little earlier if you can!
And this definitely did not end with just laser treatment.. The part more important than treatment is home care, and you really have to keep applying regenerative cream and scar ointment consistently.. Sigh..... from here on, it’s just my fault🤣 Since I’m an office worker, they told me to apply regenerative cream every 2 hours, but realistically it was so hard to keep lifting my shirt and applying it in the middle of work. I was also just too lazy, and in the end after the laser treatment I only applied the regenerative cream for about two or three days, and I left the scar ointment almost unused. I was like that throughout all 3 sessions... so every time I went to the clinic the doctor scolded me a lot... There’s really no excuse for this. I still think that if I had been a little more diligent, it would have faded a lot more than it has now.
So please think of the photos I’m posting now as being based on "3 scar-treatment sessions only + almost no aftercare." If you’re the type who applies the scar ointment and regenerative cream carefully too, I think you’ll get much better results than I did.
Actually, I wasn’t that great at aftercare either. I skipped a lot of things because I found them annoying. On the other hand, the scar itself is in a spot that’s mostly hidden anyway, so there were almost no times when it would be exposed in daily life, and I also brushed it off thinking, "Eh, it’ll be fine." But looking back now, I think I was being careless. If I had paid just a little more attention, it would have looked prettier. So everyone, please don’t just brush it off like I did because it’s annoying and really do the care properly. Since you’re spending money on treatment, the care you do at home is really important too.
For reference, I also took photos in both a bright place and a slightly dark place. The degree to which the scar shows changes quite a bit depending on the lighting, so I thought posting both would be helpful.
When I measured it directly with a ruler, the current scar length was exactly about 2 cm. I think if you look at it together with the photos, you can get a better sense of the size.
And finally, here’s one little tip I really wanted to share. I’m writing this because I personally saw results from it: the day before cosmetic surgery, I went and got facial contour care and a full-body massage. Not some painful treatment that forcefully pushes the bones of your face around, but a gentle treatment that focuses on circulation and lymph flow to manage swelling.
I’m someone who tends to swell easily and bruise easily. When I had double eyelid surgery, I got bruising around my eyes and my whole face swelled up so much that I looked like a steamed bun.
But this nose surgery was amazing because I barely had any bruising and the swelling was much less than I expected. Of course, body type differs from person to person, but I honestly felt I got a big effect from it. The owner of the esthetic clinic even stayed late because I was going in for surgery and told me, "You have to get this done before you go," as a swelling-free secret tip, and took care of me with that treatment. Thinking back on it now, I really think that helped quite a lot.
Of course, I can’t say this works 100% the same for everyone. This is only my own personal experience, so I hope you’ll take it as reference only. Still, if you have the time or room in your schedule, I do recommend getting a light facial contour/lymph care or a full-body massage the day before cosmetic surgery to help circulation. This was something I was really satisfied with, so I added it here in case it helps everyone too. 😊
