I had both under-eye hollowness and under-eye fat, and my dark circles were also severe, so people always said I looked tired. Even makeup had its limits, so I eventually got under-eye fat repositioning.
During the consultation, I was told that instead of just removing the fat, it would look more natural to reposition it and lay it back in place, so I went ahead with that. I was also told that I did not need lower blepharoplasty, so I only had under-eye fat repositioning.
Day of surgery After I came out, I had a heavy, tight feeling under my eyes. The pain was more tolerable than I expected, but there was a bit of a foreign-body sensation.
Day 1 to Day 3 The swelling really went up a lot, especially in the morning. Bruising came down in a mix of yellow and purple, and it was more noticeable than I expected. I also had a lot of eye discharge and some tearing, so it was uncomfortable. I kept doing cold compresses. This was the hardest period.
Day 4 to Day 7 The swelling started to go down little by little. As the bruising color faded, it became the kind that did not show through makeup. From this point, daily life was manageable.
Week 2 It definitely started to feel like I looked more like a person again. The swelling had gone down a lot, so it looked much more natural. I could really feel that the hollowness and fat under my eyes had improved a lot.
Current, Week 3 Now it does not look like I had surgery at all. The area under my eyes has become very clean and neat, so I am highly satisfied. People around me also say I look brighter and that the surgery went well.
In the beginning, you have to account for swelling after under-eye fat repositioning. But in the end, I am quite satisfied and do not regret it. Before, I always looked tired and my dark circles made me seem less lively, but now the apple cheeks are actually more prominent.
It is so nice not having to cover my dark circles when I do my makeup. If your case is like mine, with hollowness + fat + dark circles together, I recommend it.
