I went for a consultation because of double-jaw surgery... The plastic surgeon was kind and the explanation was very logical, but the orthodontic director kept insisting that I must do the orthodontic treatment here and pay now, and held me there for an hour. Of course, I understand that they have probably designed braces to fit the surgery over the years and that it is likely to come out the prettiest that way, but I am from outside the area and said I wanted to do orthodontics at a clinic in my hometown at least. Even while I told them this and tried to leave because it was time for me to go, they kept bringing up other patients’ cases and telling me absolutely not, saying I should decide and pay here before leaving. My assigned plastic surgery consultation manager was so kind, and the plastic surgeon was kind too, so I felt good and was wondering whether I should do it here, but after seeing the orthodontics director, I just let it go. If I go to 10 dental clinics, 9 of them say my center line is the only thing off, my teeth are very straight, and my bite is good, so I do not need orthodontics. But after looking at my teeth, he brought down my self-esteem by saying that if his own child had teeth like mine, he would feel terrible and would have corrected them right away when young, and that he could not live with teeth like this. Yet his own teeth were more crooked than mine, so hearing that there made me think they may be good at surgery, but I should not do it here.
