I went to Yoon Dong Ju Plastic Surgery today. I’m remembering everything one by one so I can write it here, so I hope people who are thinking about their first surgery definitely read this!
First, the reason I chose Yoon Dong Ju was that I went around to clinics in Seomyeon, and out of 6 places, only 2 clinics told me I had protruding eyes, and those were Yoon Dong Ju and OK. At both Yoon Dong Ju and OK, the director performs the surgery personally and seemed skilled, so at first I was leaning toward OK (they also had an anesthesiology specialist, and since they do a lot of revision surgeries, the director seemed skilled), but the price range was too high, so I gave up and went with Yoon Dong Ju.
That intro got long.. Now I’ll tell you how the surgery went at Yoon Dong Ju. 1. You change clothes, lie on the operating table, and they draw the eye shape. (Here, it’s good to wear a short-sleeved shirt + a button-up shirt + a padded jacket you can take off inside the hospital! The operating room was colder than I expected..) 2. They disinfect the eyes and give anesthetic injections (anesthesia is divided into two types: sedation and local! For reference, at the clinic I went to, they said they usually don’t do sedation and go straight into local anesthesia. But this also hurts like crazy..;;; When I first had the consultation at Yoon Dong Ju, they said sedation -> local, but suddenly in the operating room they were like, “We’ll do the anesthesia now~” and gave the local injection right away, so I was really flustered and angry. Because the local injection is seriously.. insanely painful..ㅠㅠ) 3. Now the surgery starts! After a few minutes, the director came back in and when they said, “We’ll start the surgery~,” they put a big light in front of me and told me to close my eyes. Since I had incision + ptosis correction + epicanthoplasty, I thought it would take a long time, but it was over in 50 minutes. And since my eyes were closed, I’m not exactly sure, but in terms of order, I think it went something like ptosis correction -> double eyelid -> epicanthoplasty! It doesn’t hurt at this point! (The local anesthesia hurts the most..) Other than occasionally pressing on the eyes, the sound of thread being cut, and when the director firmly held around my eyes (ouch), I didn’t really feel much. 4. After it ended, they gave me an injection in the butt, and this hurt quite a bit too.. It didn’t hurt as much as when I got a flu shot a long time ago, but still, since it’s a needle.. lol They said it was an antibiotic injection, but my dad (my dad is a doctor) says it was probably a painkiller..? I’m not sure who’s right lol 5. After getting that embarrassing butt injection, I went into the recovery room and lay down with an ice pack on! After about 10 minutes, the nurse came to get me, and I listened to the precautions with my dad and was discharged. At this point, my eyes hurt a little. It’s not unbearable pain, more like the feeling of having been hit in the eyes a few times by someone? 7. After it was over, I left wearing sunglasses and a hat like a total hipster.
