I am a man who just turned 40, and I had been bothered by aging from sagging eyelids, bulging under-eye fat, and nasolabial folds. Recently I had some free time, so I searched various plastic surgery clinics using YouTube, websites, Modoodoc, Good Doctor, and other apps. In the end I decided to consult at two places, and went ahead with the consultations.
1. Cheongdam BI Clinic
There are two directors, but it seems the other one focuses on dermatology treatments, while the main director handles plastic surgery and related procedures. It is not a very large clinic. On YouTube, the director seemed like he would be very kind and give a detailed consultation, but in the actual consultation he seemed tired and kept it brief. He recommended incision double eyelid surgery for the eyes. I also asked about surgery for a bulbous nose, but he said he would not recommend surgery because the septum is deviated, and correcting the bulbous nose could make the deviation more visible. I asked about paranasal augmentation because of my nasolabial folds, and he said that surgery would probably be okay. But when I asked whether the implant would move after paranasal augmentation, he said it could move.
Since it was my first cosmetic surgery consultation, I could not even ask all the questions I had prepared, and the consultation ended quickly. I was a little disappointed by how he mostly gave brief conclusions, but I figured he must be busy, so I went ahead and placed a surgery deposit.
2. Apgujeong Plastic Surgery Clinic
After the consultation at BI Clinic, I visited this clinic based only on user satisfaction in apps, without detailed information about the doctor. His credentials were excellent and the consultation was very detailed. He said under-eye fat repositioning would not be very noticeable because my condition is not severe, and that incision double eyelid surgery would probably be enough for my eyes. He also did not recommend cosmetic procedures that use implants, saying it would be better not to do them. (such as paranasal augmentation) This clinic is also not a large hospital, and is run by a small team.
In any case, after consultations at both places, neither of them pushed unnecessary surgery or procedures. However, I was concerned that the Cheongdam director was not a board-certified plastic surgeon and looked too tired, so I ultimately decided to have surgery at Apgujeong Plastic Surgery Clinic, where the detailed consultation and credentials gave me more trust.
It has now been 8 days since the surgery, and I am very satisfied.~ I am looking forward to seeing the final result once the swelling fully goes down and everything settles after about two months.
