I don't know why this doctor got the nickname "Apgujeong Sewing Machine." Why on earth? Just because the suturing is done as densely as a sewing machine? But shouldn't the result be good after the sutures are removed? Anyway, this is a clinic that gets mentioned at least once in cafes and communities as the "Apgujeong sewing machine," a clinic people find through word of mouth, and a solo-doctor clinic that does a lot of eye revision surgeries, so I went for a consultation too. These days, consultations are so packed that you have to book for December, or else get on a cancellation waitlist and take someone else's canceled slot. Looks like other people were also tempted by that word of mouth. Anyway, the day before, I got a call saying a canceled slot had opened up, and I went for the consultation the next day. The consultation fee is 10,000 won. The facility is the shabbiest of the clinics I scouted. And usually plastic surgery clinics have managers in uniforms or semi-formal wear, but here the manager is a bit older and was wearing a light puffer jacket. From this, I could tell how this clinic wants to be seen by patients. Personally, I think they want to come across as an unadorned, genuinely skilled place. Anyway, during the doctor consultation, in my case the front part was buried and only the back part was high, so the front needed to be made visible and the back lowered, but this doctor said such surgery was impossible. Then what about all the other doctors who said it could be done? They said the line has to follow the grain or something, so if the front is raised, the back has to be raised too. At that point I passed, because I didn't think this clinic could deliver what I wanted. But the important thing was that when I said I wanted the front line to be visible, the line they drew after hearing that was completely sausage-like. I was a bit shocked and asked if drawing it like that would make it even more sausage-like since it already looked a bit sausage-like now, and they said the line could look swollen. I mean, doesn't that mean it could end up looking sausage-like after surgery? Who would pay good money and go into surgery knowing there's a chance of ending up with sausage-like eyes? Especially when the total is over 6 million won. If, worst-case, I got sausage-like eyes after surgery here, were they going to say it was because they had mentioned that during the consultation? In my view, it was one of the most absurd and irresponsible consultations I've ever had. And the manager. The manager told me that because the space between my eyes and eyebrows is narrow, it probably wouldn't be possible to raise the line much. That part is true. But then they said I should not get eyebrow tattooing yet, and instead clean up under the eyebrow hairs and draw my brows higher. I mean, who came here to learn makeup technique? They were suddenly giving an unsolicited makeup lesson. And, as they themselves said, if you shave under the brows, you can create space between the eyes and eyebrows, which would help if you later get a brow lift. But isn't there such a thing as a natural distance? Can trimming eyebrow hair really create space? Feels like miracle logic. And other clinics usually quote prices by listing the eye revision surgery and re-canthoplasty separately, then giving the total. Here, they said eye revision surgery 4.4 million won + re-canthoplasty 2.2 million won, so the total is 6.6 million won, but maybe they know the combined amount is too high because they never actually stated the total. It was my first time seeing a clinic like this. Oh, if you pay cash, there's a bit of a discount, so it's 6.27 million won. And they don't have review discounts here either. They're not even registered on [Brand A], so you can't search the clinic or doctor names and see photo reviews. Anyway, it's a strange clinic. Even so, they say the surgery schedule is very full. Word-of-mouth marketing seems to work extremely well. Of course, this is just my personal impression, and there will naturally be people who had successful results.
