I believed this was a large plastic surgery clinic, not a small one, so I’m completely disappointed. In 2014 I had a Miscco procedure and fat grafting, and I even had one retouch. But starting in early 2017, the tip of my nose began to show through. Before the procedure I asked about side effects, and they said there would be none because it was a safe medical thread, and if I didn’t like it later, removal would be simple. At first I didn’t worry and kept living, but my husband kept saying the tip of my nose looked like a blue dot, so I contacted the hospital right away and met the chief director too. He said to wait until the thread naturally breaks through, then just cut off the part that comes out. When I asked the manager, or maybe just an employee, how removal would be done, they replied that if it was inserted one way, it could be taken out the same way. Thinking about it now, I feel they all lacked professionalism.
I also went to another hospital, and they said it could be removed openly, so I got scared and just trusted the clinic where I had the procedure. The thread never broke through, and I lived with it showing for 3 years.
Then last year the thread from my buried double eyelid surgery came loose, and while removing that I felt like I wanted to remove all foreign material in my face. If last year means 8 years after the Miscco procedure. Only then did I learn a lot about side effects from procedures like Miscco. If a thread breaks through, bacteria can enter through the wound opening and cause inflammation, and in the worst case it can even lead to necrosis. I felt stupid for just enduring it while trusting the director. And I was really relieved that the thread just kept showing and never broke through.
I visited the hospital because I didn’t want to wait for it to break through; I wanted it removed. The manager I met said it could only be removed openly. I thought it was a simple procedure, but I also didn’t want an open scar, which is why I didn’t get nose surgery in the first place. If they had explained at the start that removal would have to be done openly in order to remove a potential side effect, I would never have had this Miscco thread. And what is even worse is that they apparently have no record of how many threads were put into my nose!!! When I pressed them about the records, they said too much time had passed so there were no records. Under medical law, patient records are supposed to be kept for 10 years, but apparently not at this hospital! Even after checking again several times, they said there were no records and just that it wasn’t a large number of threads.
The director who does nose surgery mainly said non-open removal was possible, but then quoted 2.2 million won. Since I had Miscco done elsewhere, the removal here came with a completely fixed-price estimate.
They didn’t even know the number of threads, and the director mainly does open nose surgery, so I felt uneasy and couldn’t go through with the removal they said was done non-open anyway.
Everyone, please don’t get Miscco. Whether the thread is dissolvable or not, if side effects happen, it is no joke. Thread removal is not an easy surgery either. Once stress starts from the side effects, your quality of life drops. Please make sure it is a safe procedure before getting it, and choose a hospital where the procedure records can be properly confirmed.
