I had a consultation today. I didn’t know much about artificial cartilage, but after searching here I found so many negative posts, so I’m askingㅠㅠ
I’m having revision surgery, and after the CT scan they said I don’t have enough septal cartilage (I had surgery with septal cartilage before), so it would have to be ear cartilage, but they said it would probably still not be enough.. The reason I’m having revision surgery is because the columella is deviated, and in cases like this they said they’d need to fix it more firmly for support. Ear cartilage seems like it wouldn’t be enough, and since there should have been septal cartilage in the first surgery but there isn’t any for the revisionㅠㅠ they said something needs to be added.
So they said I’d have to choose between donated rib cartilage or artificial cartilage. I don’t want donated rib cartilage, and I heard artificial cartilage would eventually dissolve and disappear anyway, so I thought that might actually be better, and I said I liked artificial cartilage (I don’t mind at all if it dissolves and the nasal bridge gets a little lower).
But after coming here, I saw people saying you absolutely shouldn’t get artificial cartilageㅠㅠ I’m curious if there’s anyone who was okay after getting it..
