He suddenly suggested adding eyebrow fixation, or said I absolutely had to get eye correction or inner canthoplasty, which other hospitals had told me not to do. So when I tried to ask for more detail, he gave a vague explanation of the procedure and seemed to rush through it. Eyebrow fixation is especially unfamiliar, and he just said something like, "They cut here and attach it." I ended up feeling like he had no conviction at all after the consultation and just wanted to rush things and get surgery done quickly, which made me really uneasy.
So I felt sorry about it, but I said I would come back after thinking it over even if I lost the 100,000 won consultation deposit. Then the consultation manager suddenly threatened me, saying they had blocked out 1.5 hours of surgery time and I couldn't just not have the operation. Even though I said I was still worried, the consultation staff stormed out and said they would ask the doctor and come back. Then they returned and suddenly said, "Then just get the double eyelids and go." This is surgery where they put a knife to your face, but they kept talking like they were bargaining just to make money. So when I said I wanted to think about the surgery itself, they said, "Then pay compensation for the 1.5 hours we set aside."
A patient says the surgery suddenly became too scary to go through with, and they threaten them into having it, and that's what they say. Even though I said I'd throw away the deposit. From the perspective of a doctor who does surgery every day, losing the 1.5 hours reserved for surgery is a loss, sure, but from a business perspective they have to accept that sometimes. The patient was mentally anxious and couldn't do it, but telling them to pay compensation or just get only double eyelid surgery, all without any professional principle, made it feel like a hospital that was dead set on making money.
