Choosing this hospital and this doctor was... I think it was a stroke of genius... If I had done even a little less research and in-person visits, I would have needlessly added another 2 or 3 million won, and I can only imagine the chill I would have felt if they had inserted the cannula into the navel and the gluteal cleft even though there was not enough range of motion, or if I had ended up taking the subway for dozens of minutes because transportation was bad.
I have already written so many reviews about liposuction surgery, so I will just leave my review of Model Line Gangnam and Dr. Kim.
1. The entire 5th floor is the surgery floor + there are 4 recovery rooms, and it is completely brand new. If you have done even a little research and in-person visits, you probably know that in surgery reviews there are often posts like, "I went into the examination room and it felt like an 80s dental clinic," or "I was shocked because the surgery was done in a tiny room right next to the director's consultation room." I went in expecting that too, but it turned out the entire 5th floor was the surgery floor, there were about 4 very well-equipped recovery rooms, and the operating room was really brand new. A university hospital probably is not even this new...? So I was genuinely surprised, and because there were 4 recovery rooms, I did not have to panic about needing to vacate for the next patient while recovering. It was also nice when changing clothes, and the nurses felt very professional. I had surgery twice, and I think the operating room nurses changed for each surgery, but I am not entirely sure.
2. Chief doctor Kim Hyun-seung First of all, he was young, kind, and gentle, but had the vibe of a very careful math teacher, Jeong Seung-je, and even his face sort of looked similar. Because I am a bit of a loner, I sit in the waiting room while waiting to check in with a blank "Sigh..." face, but whenever I went to remove stitches or for aftercare, he would always come over and greet me with, "Oh! Hello!" and ask things like whether I was doing okay after surgery, and whether my face looked pale and if he could look under my eyes. During the consultation, he was the only doctor among the four hospitals I had visited who pointed out that my navel was twisted and that my ribs were uneven in height. From the PPT he showed, it also seemed like he attends a lot of academic conferences.
3. Staff kindness At first, the dedicated manager assigned to me gave off a kind robot-like vibe, and I felt they were pushing surgery a bit too hard, so I was disappointed. But it was the complete opposite of the vibe you get from a manager at a one-doctor clinic with a strong personality, and while they were indeed gentle, I never felt like complaints or questions would be ignored. Plus, surgery and consultation are with the doctor anyway, so I thought, ah, this is where a large hospital is better! The front desk staff felt a bit like typical Gangnam clinic employees... when busy, they were hectic, but still managed to remain polite. Most of all, I had read in the community reviews that the operating room nurses were villains, so I went into the operating room trembling a bit, but I did not get that impression at all. There was one somewhat older nurse who took care of me right after surgery, and she was kind when removing the stitches too, so there is no need to worry about that. The reviews saying they were rude may have been written in early 2024? I also think I saw that the hospital moved to Gangnam around May 2024, so maybe the staff changed too? Anyway, based on my two surgeries, I did not get a rude impression.
4. Aftercare (low frequency, high frequency) But the staff member in charge of aftercare... hmm, I do not really know. I was glad I had bought an aftercare device separately. They felt a bit rude? They said it seemed like my swelling had not gone down much, and I said, ah, maybe I told the doctor not to remove too much fat, so it might not have come off all at once... but maybe they misunderstood and thought I was blaming the doctor for not taking enough out. So they were like, no, Doctor Kim is the kind who takes the fat out thoroughly, right? And I was like, what are you talking about, he is the kind of doctor who removes it all at once -- and after that the atmosphere got a little... weird. During the high-frequency treatment, it was so itchy that I had to hold back laughing, but the staff member just said with a blank face, does it hurt? Ah, so it itches?... -_- I felt so miserable in that situation... As for the care itself, the low-frequency treatment just felt like thump-thump-thump..., so it was worse than my home-care device, and the high-frequency treatment was, like, a monopolar method where they rubbed a metal plate on my back... anyway, it seemed to work for sure, but it was not like, wow, this is way better than the home device! Still, I definitely recommend the high-frequency aftercare!! (But I know you are supposed to start with low-frequency treatment first, and high-frequency is for when recovery has progressed a bit more.)
And is there more to write...? Anyway, I truly think choosing surgery here was an excellent decision. I thought it would be one of those places that market aggressively because it is a big hospital, but there was absolutely none of that, like asking me to write posts here and there. The only thing was taking after-photos when I went to remove the stitches. In the reviews here too, there are plenty of hospitals where every post is obviously written with a different tone every single day, but this place does not seem to have any of that at all, and anyway, it is really good.
