I have a very prominent forehead, so whenever I talked with people around me or went in for consultations, they always said that if I wanted to fix it, I should do the forehead first.
My frontal sinus is one where the bone in front is relatively thin, so shaving alone would not be enough and it would need to be pushed in. I understood that this is not a surgery done in my country, so I was planning to have the operation overseas later. However, by chance I found out that surgery was being done domestically at [Clinic A], so this time I took leave and had brow bone reduction + eye socket reduction + forehead lift + forehead volume correction.
1. Swelling lasts quite a long time They said I bled quite a lot, but even though I had absolutely no bruising, I had a lot of swelling, especially around the eyes, for more than two weeks. Their website says you can return to daily life after 2 days, but that would probably require a lot of courage.
2. My impression changed a lot Usually I thought nose and eye surgery change your impression a lot, while contour surgery does not create such a noticeable change, so I thought the forehead would be the same. But it changes your impression a lot. People around me all notice that something has changed. It is hard to make it look as if nothing was done.
3. There seems to be some drooping around the eyes After the forehead lift, the fine forehead wrinkles almost disappeared, but maybe because too much of the eye socket area was reduced, there seems to be a slight drooping of the eyelid skin over the shaved area. That does not go away even with a forehead lift. It might be swelling, but if it still does not go away, I think I may need to have some eyelid fat removed when I get double-eyelid revision surgery later.
4. Irregularities can appear I asked for a safety-first operation, so I do not have this problem yet, but if you ask for a lot of shaving and a lot of pushing in, nonunion/delayed union can occur in the frontal sinus area of the forehead, and irregularities can form on the forehead. They said that if a problem occurs they would give PRP injections or fat grafting, but I do not know how much help that would be.
I understand that most forehead surgeries domestically are fat grafting or implants, but if the brow bone area is protruding a lot, shaving seems more appropriate than inserting something. I am satisfied with the result itself.
